Tape One

Hey so first chapter, I hope this will turn out good, since I have never wrote anything this serious. But I hope you enjoy the first chapter. Let's get this tape rolling.

Bakugo POV

I was walking to my locker, I needed to change out of my gym clothes. I was training after school, so I needed to shower and change into more comfortable clothes. As I opened my locker, there was a box. It was just sitting there. How did someone find the combination to my locker?

I looked around, a bit paranoid. I opened the box, in there lied tapes, a map, and a green cassette player. My breath hitched, that cassette player used to belong to Deku. I remember him listening to music everyday on that thing. Tears threatened to fall off my face. I sniffled, holding them in. 

I grabbed the box, and ran to my dorm. I slammed the door closed and flipped the light on. I poured the contents of the box on my bed. There were exactly thirteen cassette tapes, a marked up map. The map was marked in green sharpie, next to it lying the familiar cassette tape with All Might stickers on it. 

I feel as if this object were from another life, another me. Deku, my childhood friend had committed suicide. I was such a jerk to him. I should've stopped when he asked, I should've reminded him he wasn't useless. Now I refer to him as Deku not because he is useless, but because Deku reminds me how useless I was to him. Not the other way around. 

I gripped the red and green earbuds. I remember him dancing to school each morning, with the cassette hanging out of the pocket of his green hoodie. A small smile appeared on my face, as I remembered him, he was so happy. What happened to him? Curiosity got the best of me, I slipped the earbuds in. I looked down at the green colored cassette in my lap.

How did someone get a hold of these things? Why was I given them? Who gave these to me? How did they get my locker combo? All these questions went through my head and more. I opened the map, with extreme care. More papers slipped out. Some were layouts of buildings, our classroom, and more. They all looked hand drawn, at the bottom of each was Deku's signature. In his favorite sparkly green pen ink.

A tear fell on the paper, I remember him getting that pen for his birthday. His messy handwriting. Each paper was marked with a number in a green sharpie. There were thirteen individual papers, some with pictures attached. The papers were crinkled like they had been folded and unfolded many times.

I finally decided to put the tape in, that read one. I hit play, Deku's voice came through. "Hi everyone it's me Izuku Midoriya, live and in stereo." I paused it , I could feel myself panting, it's been so long since I've heard that voice. I picked up the paper labeled one.

It was a layout of the classroom, all the desks sketched perfectly, with the names of the person who sat at them. There was also a polaroid, paper clipped to the bottom of the paper. It was of Deku's desk, I could almost imagine him in that desk, writing, and mumbling. 

I clicked continue. "If you can hear me, then don't adjust your whatever device you listening to this on. Just sit back and listen, and if you want to visit the places that are marked here then please do so. If you don't that's okay to, just please listen and then pass this on to the person after you. If you are listening to this, then you are one of my thirteen reasons why." I paused, my mind rushing with questions.

Did I kill Deku? Who else is on here? Will this finally explain why he did it? I pressed continue. "Hello, Uraraka welcome to your tape." But weren't Round Face and Deku best friends? I thought to myself. "If you look at the paper marked one you will see my desk, that is the first location." I stormed out of the dorms, it was dark so I couldn't really see where I was going. "Why did you have to do this to me Uraraka, I wanted a friend so bad. I shouldn't have befriended you. Did you get joy from the things you said to me. Why did you always torture me with the truth, but never comfort me with a lie."
