Zayn walked in the direction of his locker and sighed. He hated school. He really had no reason to like it. He had no friends, he wasn't in any clubs, no one really liked him.
Why would they anyways? There wasn't anything special about him. He enjoyed drawing and singing, but he wasn't any good.
Zayn opened his locker and gather all the items he would need for the remainder of the day. The less times he had to come to his locker, the better. Not going meant he'd get to avoid the stampede of people going to their own.
He slammed his locker shut and started making his way throigh the crowd of people. He finally made it to his homeroom class. He also had this class for first period. It was his least favorite subject, too. Magic history.
Their teacher, Mr. Lincoln was strict and just downright rude. He only ever talked about one thing, dark wizards.
-
It all started thousands of years ago. All wizards and wizardesses lived together in peace. Until one day, Mortimer Payne, one of the most powerful beings known to the world, discovered something meant to be hidden from their kind; dark magic. The magic corrupted the man, convincing him to destroy all light magic.Mortimer gathered millions of people and taught them his ways. Each member of his army was branded. A mark on their right hand to show their loyalty to Payne.
Payne had his own special mark. One to be passed down through his family line. So that the Paynes' would remain the most powerful people for the rest of time.
Dark wizards overruled light until one day, John Randolph rose and fought Mortimer. The battle brought caos acrossall the land. All the remaining light wizards banded together to fight for peace.
Whenever Mortimer was finally stricken down, Randolph instructed the light wizards to use their magic to biuld a wall. A border separating all dark magic from light.
That border still stands today...

Zayn jolted awake after his dream. He looked up to see if his teacher had noticed. He didn't, of course. Zayn sighed and rested his head back into his head hands.
Zayn always hated learning about this subject. All the teachers did was insist that every person on the other side of the border was evil. It's been thousands of years. They can't all still be bad, right?
The bell shook Zayn out of his thoughts. He quickly stood up and gathered his stuff. His next class was music. This one, he could stand.
Their teacher, Mrs. Michaels is very lenient. She wanted her students to embrace themselves. To find their inner creativity.
He mainly made himslef comfortable in one of the beanbag chairs and sketched until the bell rang.
He entered the room and smiled a bit at the familiar scent of vanilla and pumpkin spice. Mrs. Michaels beckoned them to their seats.
"Good morning , darlings" she said. "I've got something special planned for you today!"
'Oh no' Zayn thought. This meant she had some sort of project planned for them.
"Now, before you start freaking out, it's nothing too difficult," she stated.
"I want you to name your favorite singer and write a page of why you like this person," she said.
"I want to know why you think this person is superior then other singers, why and how you relate to their lyrics, and what you like about their personality!" She said with a smile.
'Ok, that doesnt sound too bad,' Zayn thought.
"Oh! And I'llne assigning you with a partner!"
'And there it is,' zayn thought with a roll of the eyes. This is going to be a long day.
Zayn and his partner sat down together in the corner of the room. Zayn could already tell that he was going to hate this.
"So, who're you writing about, Zaynie?" his partner, Brendan, asked.
Zayn raised an eyebrow at the nickname.
"Zaynie?" He questioned.
"Yeah! If we're going to be to be working on this together, we might as well be friends," he responded, cheerfully.
"I guess so," Zayn said with a sigh.
"Soo, you never answered my question. Who're you writing about?"
"5 Seconds of Summer," Zayn answered in a quiet voice. He shyly fiddled with the end of his sleeve, hoping Brendan would end the conversation.
"Woah, good taste! I am too," Brendan said with a bright smile.
"Cool," Zayn said shyly. He cant wait for this day to be over already. Gladly, Brendan got the message that he didn't want to talk and started on his paper.
Zayn let out a sigh of releive and began working on his own project. Finally, some peace.
-
Zayn tiredly finished the rest of his day, jumping out of his seat when the bell releasing then from school finally rung. He walked to the bus, dreading having to ride the thing. It was dirty, old, and loud. He was just glad that he didn't have to share his seat with anyone.
He had just turned 15, which mean't only one more year and he could stop riding the dreadful thing and drive his own car. He plopped down into his seat and put his earbuds in. She Looks So Perfect by 5SOS filled his ears.
Zayn shuddered at the thought of of the video. A bunch of women in their underwear. Maybe boys his age should like that but he never was. He guessed that he just wasn't old enough yet.
He noticed some girl staring at him. He started to raise a questioning eyebrow at her, but she turned away quickly and blushed.
'Weird' he thought. He turned his head back towards the window. Sometimes he just really wished his life was different.
