Mal answered the door, hoping it was his older siblings. Thankfully it was. "Hey!"
Laura ushered the children in and helped them take off their layers. "How have you been, honey?"
He eyed the boys.
She pouted. "Go find your cousins."
"They're in the playroom."
Marcus IV held his brother's hand there.
"Okay. What's going on?" Laura demanded.
"I have no idea." Mal was so confused. "Remember when we were twelve? When she came home so mean? She's acting like that."
"Where is she?" Marc piped up.
"I don't know. She makes sure the kids are alright then she disappears. She won't let me see her."
Laura was so worried. "I'll find her."
Mal nodded as she rushed upstairs.
"Where's the termite?" Marc asked.
Mal scowled.

Laura found Marcy in the library, staring out a window. It was raining after all. "MarcAn?"
Marcy didn't move.
Laura went to touch her shoulder and Marcy jumped. That freaked Laura out because no one snuck up on Marcy. "Hi, honey."
"Why does he keep calling you?"
"He's just worried about you."
Marcy said nothing.
"We can sit here." Laura sat next to her on the chaise.
They sat in quiet for a really long time.
"I called Ellen." Marcy whispered suddenly.
Laura's eyes widened. "You did?"
Marcy nodded slowly.
"Did it make you feel better?"
She lifted a shoulder.
"What did you talk about?"
"Visiting."
"You visiting her?" Laura wondered exactly what was happening.
Marcy shook her head.
"Her visiting you?"
Marcy shook her head again.
"Then who?"
"Us."
"Us?"
"Her visiting us."
"You and Mal?"
Marcy said nothing.
Laura waited but she said nothing else. She sighed lightly. "Are you hungry?"

Maddie bounced on her bed then stopped when she (and her sisters) got nauseous. "I wanted to wait until Mercy and Lucy got here but I can't wait!" She thrust out her hand. "I'm engaged!"
Laura's jaw dropped.
Marcy said nothing.
"Aren't you happy for me?" Maddie's eyes filled.
Marcy nodded but her dour facial expression didn't change.
Maddie pouted.
"Dante proposed?!" Laura was getting shrill.
