AN: Huangjin Hexie = Golden Harmony. He's from a line of golden deer spirits and is going to be a super chill character. The more that is written about him, the more that'll become obvious.
Báiwěi = white tail(s) - A nickname BQ was given by Hexie when she was a child... Like all things, there's a (cute-ish) backstory about it that'll probably be revealed eventually. In case anyone misses it, Bai Cheng is Yaozu's brother, the missing fox.
(5 Days Later)
Mo Yuan hesitates outside of Bai Qian's den.
After his talk with Zhe Yan, they had a peaceful dinner with A-li. For the last few days that followed, Bai Feng Jiu attended court with Bai Qian, who remained fairly cordial to anyone she interacted with. Only today did the little red fox show up with her Uncle, Bai Zhen, quietly sitting at her side.
He was concerned, but he suspected that Bai Qian may have slept in, as rousing her in the morning wasn't usually an easy task. He had no complaints if that was the case; his lazy fox had been overworking herself to take care of Bai Feng Jiu's impending workload during the past week.
When he arrived at the Fox Den in Xiwu palace, it was eerily silent. A small, peach-shaped bell was tied to the peach tree at its entrance, but otherwise, he had yet to see anyone other than the additional guards he posted a small distance away from her palace or her usual staff.
Mi Gu was missing, which meant she may have taken him along somewhere.
To Qing Qiu, perhaps?
"Heavenly Lord."
Mo Yuan turns around, staring down a small blue snake spirit curiously, "You are...?"
"Queen Si Yin's head maid." Shao Xing offers him a small courtesy before staring down at the floor.
"'Xing'er'?" When she nods while avoiding his eyes, he forces a small smile onto his features, "I won't bite. Tell me, where is Bai Qian?"
"Gugu left for the..." Shao Xing stops mid-sentence, gasping before looking up at him with wide eyes, "What did you say, Your Majesty?"
"Where is Queen Bai Qian?"
Shao Xing's face pales as she hesitates, looking back at the cave, she whispers uneasily, "What are you going to do to her?"
Catching the fear in her eyes, Mo Yuan shakes his head, "I just want to know where my wife is; she's been unwell and I'm worried about her."
Shao Xing looks up at him carefully for a moment, searching for any sign of a lie before clearing her throat, "You must mean Queen Si Yin; Bai Qian is dead. Queen Si Yin has gone to the Western Sea with A-li to visit an old friend."
The Western Sea? How convenient...

"Something's bothering you," The Lord of the Stags, Huangjin Hexie, finally speaks up as they watch A-li playing with his seventh child, a young baby girl named Zao Chen. He was behaving himself as always, and his gentleness towards the small infant left her with a small smile on her face.
"Mmm...?" Bai Qian turns to look at him before blushing slightly as he raises his brow to reiterate his point, "Oh. No, I'm..."
"Fine?" Hexie supplies with a small, cocky grin as Bai Qian nods half-heartedly, watching A-li play once again, "Do you... want to talk about it?"
Letting out a soft sigh as she folds her arms to ward off the cold morning air, Bai Qian hesitates before looking at him, "I can't make up my mind. I know I should want children, I know my family needs more children, but I never thought I'd have one so early. Now that it's unlikely I can have more, I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed."
