AN: I know 9th/Ling Yu is from the Celestial tribe, but given that there's not much known about him (in the series), I did choose to take creative liberty and add more to the character over the next few chapters.

Chapters 1&2 were grouped together, hence the sudden change in chapter numbering.

Apologies for the delay in updating, we've been having crazy storms that have been knocking out the power. Luckily, however, I bought a new computer and was able to go to a friends to publish this chapter. From here on out, regular updates will be resumed. :)

"Why can't I see my mistress?" Cheng Yu's irritated voice fills the courtyard of Mo Yuan's hall.

"I..." Ling Yu, Mo Yuan's Ninth disciple, stammers uneasily as he looks back at the hall where his Shifu ordered him to keep watch over Si Yin.

Letting out a small, exhausted groan, Bai Qian reluctantly begins to sit up as they continue to talk.

"High God Mo Yuan ordered me to let no one disturb her, even her staff..."

Even Cheng Yu? Raising her head blearily, Bai Qian carefully rubs the sleep from her eyes as she rises from the bed. She quietly stumbles through the small hall without making so much as a peep and changes into a new set of robes before walking up to the double doors that lead outside.

Cheng Yu lets out an irritated sigh, "Who said that I was-"

"Cheng Yu is my disciple," Opening the doors to the hall, she ignores the surprise on both of their faces as she speaks, "She is free to enter, regardless of the context."

"Yes, Heavenly Consort Si Yin," Mo Yuan's ninth disciple offers her a formal greeting.

When his hands lower, she looks past him to Cheng Yu, "Has our guest from Qing Qiu recovered from last night?"

"Xiaobai has returned to Mount Junji. Once Zhe Yan arrives, we should be able to move her friend back to Qing Qiu.*"

"Did something happen?" Ling Yu looks between them curiously, "Shifu said that..."

Spotting a safe opening, Cheng Yu quickly joins Ling Yu's side before Bai Qian chooses to speak, "My niece arrived in the Nine Heavens drunk yesterday. She brought a male friend with her..."

High Goddess Bai Qian is completely oblivious to the fact that he could take that the wrong way... Glancing up, Cheng Yu continues right where Bai Qian left off, filling in the gaps for her, "My High Goddess does not want this to be known to anyone, especially her older brother. Both Xiao Jiu and the young man are each from one of Qing Qiu's oldest families. if this gets out at the wrong time, it could ruin their chances of a good match."

"O-oh," Ling Yu stumbles softly as his cheeks color, "I apologize. I promise I won't tell anyone about their mishap."

"Thank you." Bai Qian turns around, nearly stumbling over herself when she realizes that the smile pulling on her lips is genuine. She was avoiding Mo Yuan's disciples whenever she could up until this point.

"Gugu," Ling Yu doesn't miss the slightly anxious look in Cheng Yu's eyes as she speaks, "We should return to Xiwu Palace for now. High God Zhe Yan will be there shortly."

Bai Qian nods before turning to Ling Yu, "Thank you for looking after your Shifu's hall. We should be going."

"--Ai-ya!" Ninth smacks his forehead suddenly, catching both women by surprise and immediately setting them on edge over his strange outburst, "I've completely forgotten. Shifu asked me to accompany you this morning. He's concerned something in the Main Hall might cause a disturbance."
