Two weeks...
That's how long I had to decide. After so much of thinking, analysing all the reasons why I should take up the job offer and why I should not, I still made the decision to take up the job.
So I inform Christine about how I was prepared to accept the job, and I go through the interviews, which I pass and get selected.

My first day of work as a senior detective. I get dressed in a plain white blouse neatly tucked under a high waist black bottom. I wear a high ponytail and wear my coat shoes and leave for work.
Christine takes me on the workplace tour and introduces me to the staff.

"Oh no! How could I forget???" She panics at once.

"What's wrong?"

"You'll be working together as a team with another senior detective. I forgot to tell you that!" She blurts out.

"So? Isn't that obvious?" I laugh.

"No! You see, together as a team with another senior detective who is Ja--" she's cut off by the voice of a male.

"Good morning Allie! Jerome!" He greets. Christine is staring at him, who is probably behind me.
Although I can't help but notice the familiar tone to his perfect rough voice. Wait! It sounds too familiar!
I turn around, to see him standing there. About two feet behind me, he's walking forward yet.

No! No! No!
He finally comes closer to me, and offers to shake hands.

"Hello! Jason Miguel, senior detective and your partner in crime solving." He greets me with that killer smile he's got. I mean... he's got dimples so he looks sort of  okay.

Huh! So basically this is what Christine was panicking about. Makes sense!
Between Jason and me, there's always been bad blood. Back in college, no one dared to go up against him. Except for me!
He once offended my friend, Tracy, in ways he shouldn't have. And it pissed me off, so I approached him. And if I remember it right, it almost sounded like I was threatening him. But he smiled, and he walked away.
Which pissed me off even more. He was embarrassed in front of many! But he smiled. Or smirked. Whichever!

That day onwards, we had arguments during every literature period, even during law and criminology. Which was horrible!! But he seemed to enjoy it. He always smiled whenever I spoke.

Although we were once the best-est of friends. Till he went his own way, bringing our friendship to an end.
That's where the trouble began.

"Hello! Nigella Rodrigo! Look forward to working with you." I shake hands, playing along.
And I tilt my head and face Christine who's still behind me. She looks like she could cry into buckets and buckets.

"If you'd excuse me, I'd like to get started with my work, commencing with arranging my workspace." I inform and scoot away.
Relieved, and glad I made through that!
