"Okay so we're done here. Now I'm going to write some words and you try to read them. Okay?" Jasmine said cheerfully and Annabelle nodded shyly.
"Alright then". Using a pencil they found in one of the drawers, Jasmine scribbled on the last page of the book. Annabelle wondered if that was okay.
"Okay!! Here you go!!" Jasmine stood up fast and passed the book to Annabelle. Why is she even this excited. Annabelle wondered as she took the book from her.
Alright let's see. That's an A. Then we have two Ns or Ms? Um "Quick question" Annabelle said, still looking at the book, not because she was concentrating but rather embarrassed.
"Yes?" She heard Jasmine's sweet voice reply instantly. "Which is the n and which the m?"
"The m looks like two ns" "okay"
And she went back to reading.Another a and a b? Yes b. E two Ls and another e, okay then let's see.
"Anna- oh." As she realised it was her name, Annabelle felt the tiniest bit of heat creep its way to her cheeks.
"Yes. Continue." And she did.
I and s. Okay that's easy. Next. P. R. E. Two Ts and a Y. Huh? What does that- oh.
Now that little heat was burning her face. And Annabelle tucked her head lower in embarrassment.
"Read it out loud for me, will you?" Jasmine's voice held an amused tone, and for the first time ever, Annabelle wanted to smack her.
She mumbled out the words. But Jasmine insisted. So, even though she was well aware her face probably was as red as her hair, Annabelle looked up at her, and frowned.
Jasmine's grin only grew wider and she swayed in her seat with excitement as she repeated "read out loud please read it out loud"
Annabelle simply closed the book and put it on Jasmine's lap. Which gained a pout from the latter. And even though that made Annabelle's heart flutter, she already decided that it was enough for the day. And it really was since the shop was already closed and it was dark outside.
As Annabelle got up and went to pick up her jacket, Jasmine stood up too. "Is that all?" Jasmine's tone held a hint of disappointment and Annabelle felt a little bad.
"Yes, it's getting really dark outside and.. You know... it's not so safe out there" she said as she awkwardly scratched her arm. Jasmine simply nodded and picked up her coat.
Silence fell between them as they wore their jackets. And once they faced each other again, Jasmine said "we can use the carriage to-"
"No!" Annabelle cut her off fast, and it came out a little too loud. "I, uh I mean don't bother haha. I'm good, I can take care of myself".
"But it's safer to go on the carriage." Jasmine whined, and Annabelle didn't understand why she cared this much.
"No, no it's okay. I'm good . Thank you!" Annabelle decided to just say goodbye, because the other girl was obviously not letting go.
As the florist hugged the rich lady, she heard her mutter "But I thought we're friends" so she squeezed her a little harder.
"Thank you for your concern, but I'm good. Really" Annabelle said before her and Jasmine headed to the door.
"Okay, take care then." Jasmine gave one more grin before turning around and getting in her carriage.

Once Jasmine got home, she found her mom waiting for her. And by the look on her face, Jasmine knew it would be better to just go straight to her room.
And so she did. But as she put her foot on the first step of the stairs, her mom called for her, surprisingly in a low and calm voice.
Jasmine cursed herself in her head and turned around slowly, putting on an innocent expression. "Yes mama ?"
"Why are you so late sweetheart?" Nice, she's not mad. "I was hanging out with a friend and i didnt notice the time" she lied.
"Who is this friend ? Charlotte?" She asked, and her facial expression softened a little.
"Um no no. A new friend" she said and started going up the stairs again, in hopes that her mother would leave her alone.
"Oh okay, be careful and don't trust people fast. Oh and your fiancé is waiting for you upstairs"
"Huh"
"Your fiancé. Upstairs"
"Why"
"What do you mean why" Jasmine simply shook her head and went upstairs.
Her hands were slightly shaking from anger. She made it quite clear to him that he couldn't visit whenever he wanted. And made it even clearer to not expect anything from her before marriage.
She wasn't that religious, but it was a nice excuse to avoid suspicions.
Standing in front of the door, Jasmine took a deep breath and went in.
