I tapped my foot nervously as I stood waiting by the door. my arms crossed.

"could you just have a moment of patience" Harrison whined from the living room.

I hadn't even said anything, he just knew.

"hurry up" I whined back.

Harrison finally emerged with only one arm in his jacket and his boots both untied.

" stop rushing me" He said.

"I'm going to have a smoke without you" I said as I watched him struggle to get his other arm through the floppy jacket sleeve.

"two seconds, Harper" he emphasized.

I watched him flail his arm around until the sleeve cooperated and his jacket was finally on. He bent down towards his shoes but froze, then just tucked the laces into the boots.

"really?" I asked as I watched him.

"no time to tie em" he said with a casual shrug, breezing past me and out the door.

I shook my head slowly as I followed him out, locking the door behind us.

We hopped in his car like usual and buckled up. Harrison pulled out of the complex and we started heading towards the school.

"you're nervous now aren't ya?" He asked in the silence of the car.

"you're not?" I replied.

"I never said that" He replied.

The car fell silent again until we pulled into the same parking lot as last time. The big building seems to look over us.

The car was parked but neither of us got out.

"what are you hoping to find?" I broke the silence.

He shrugged, "whatever we can" he said.

" this is stupid. I said.

I watched Harrison unbuckle his seatbelt and I did the same.

"It's okay, we'll be safe" He said.

I tried to smile at him in response but couldn't seem to.

We both exited the car and gave the area a good scan before walking briskly to the same poorly lit door. Harrison presented the little gold key again.

"I just want to know where to hell you got that" I whispered close to him.

He grinned. obviously proud of himself.

"a magician never reveals his secrets" He whispered back.

"you're no magician" I said. the lock clicked open and Harrison cracked the door. "you're a criminal" I added.

Harrison pushed me through the door gently and followed close behind. He eased the door shut and there we were again standing in the almost darkness.

"we are not separating" I hissed at him.

He smiled gently and placed his hand on my back.

"okay" He said.

He urged me forward with a light push and reluctantly I began walking. Harrison stopped me at the end of the hallway and put his index finger against his lips, indicating that I should be quiet. something I had already been doing but, whatever.

He snuck around the corner and looked at every corner and crevasse in the room.

"okay. we're alone" He whispered and motioned for me to join him.
