FORGET ABOUT YOU
daniel woke up to a stinging pain all over his body. he went to rub his eyes, but touching them only seemed to make them hurt more. as daniel took a moment to think, he thought back to the night before.
the punches to his face, the kicks to the ribs. the blood pouring out of his nose, and jonah knocking out both boys with a rock.
"oh shit.." daniel mumbled, gently running his hands down his face. he swung his blankets off of him and made his way downstairs. the house was empty, jonah was nowhere to be seen. daniel frowned as he made his way to the bathroom, looking at himself in the dirty mirror.
"merde.." daniel mumbled as he looked at his face. he was barely recognizable, all his once beautiful and unique features were gone. he had a cut lip, one of his eyes was black, and he had small scrapes on the remainder of his face, and a cut on his cheekbone and eyebrow.
he grabbed peroxide from the small cupboard in the bathroom and a cotton round. he poured the liquid on the round, wiping it over the open cuts.
"shit, that fucking hurts." daniel mumbled, tossing the cotton round in the thrash. he made his way to the living room, sitting down on the couch.
the sun was peaking through the windows and daniel could see every dust particle in the rays of sun. his plants were a bright green and his many paintings hung around the house shined bright. it was the perfect day for picking fruits from his garden or going to the lake.
"just because you got your ass kicked doesn't mean you can mope around the house forever, daniel." daniel said to himself as he crossed his arms. "whatever.." he mumbled as he got off the couch and headed upstairs.
he showered and got dressed, topping his shorts and tank off with a bucket hat in attempt to hide his face.
then, he was off.
biking to the lake.
his lake.
the air smelled so fresh and the streets were beautiful. daniel couldn't help but smile as he made his way down the sidewalk, branching off into the woods. he made his way down the dirt road, eventually ditching his bike at the shore of his lake.
daniel could see a head poking out of the water.
"hello!" daniel said as he took off his shirt and shorts.
the small head turned around.
"hey, daniel." dance squinted his eyes.
"jonah?" he asked, making his way into the water.
"fancy seeing you here. permet de jouer au marco-polo, ouais?" daniel nodded, smiling.
the water was warm and clear, and like usual it was just jonah and daniel. the air smelled of fresh rain, and every once in a while daniel could see a fish swim by.
"before we get started.. would you like to spend the night at my house?" jonah asked, running his hands through his wet hair.
"sure. that sounds nice." daniel said, smiling. "where do you live?" jonah emerged from the deep water and came close.
"'bout ten minutes from your place. it's not really on a busy street, unlike like yours." jonah said as he grabbed daniel's hands, pulling him deeper into the water.
-
daniel pedaled right behind jonah as they pulled up to what daniel assumed was his house.
