FORGET ABOUT YOU

"are you okay?" jonah asked, fingers dancing across daniel's bare skin.

"yeah, just a bit sad." daniel mumbled, coughing as jonah lit another cigarette.

"why?" jonah asked, pulling the covers over them.

"because you leave soon. seven days, jonah. seven days until you're on some plane to america and i'm here alone." daniel said, listening as the rain gently hit the roof.

"we are going to get through this, yeah? when i'm able to i'll come and see you. i know these streets by heart now. i'll be able to come here whenever i'm able." jonah said, leaning down to place a kiss on daniel's forehead.

"promise you won't fall in love with anyone but me?" daniel asked, wiping a tear that escaped his eye.

"i promise, daniel." but for some reason, daniel felt like the promise wouldn't be kept.

"i'm going to shower, rinse all of this off of me." daniel said, getting out from under the covers, limping to the bathroom. daniel couldn't help but think about jonah falling in love with someone else.

and damn, did it hurt.

the next morning, jonah waved to daniel as he exited the home, getting on his bike. leaving daniel was the hardest thing he had to to.

even if he had a few days left, seeing daniel's face was a constant reminder of what was to come up.

jonah knew he'd never find someone else like daniel. someone else who was so strong, but at the same time dependent and shy. someone who cared as much as daniel, someone who knew what they wanted when they wanted it.

daniel was a once in a life time opportunity, and anyone would be lucky to have him.

as jonah pedaled home, he already began thinking of how he'd return to france. although his family in america was wealthy, they never let their children spend their money irresponsibly. jonah would have to prove to his parents he's ready to return to france.

and then he thought about reuniting with daniel.

they'd be older, in their late twenties, early thirties. they both would have never found love with someone else, and when they'd finally find each other again, all of their once chemistry would still be there. daniel would still be a hardworking artist, and jonah would be a wealthy privileged man. daniel would still live in his house that overlooked the city, and laura would still live in her gated home, still gorgeous.

jonah could only hope.

he couldn't help but think if visiting france was worth it. seeing all the beautiful buildings and streets was worth it, but having to let go to the people he met and loved made him question it.

"daniel, daniel, daniel." jonah mumbled, parking his bike at the gate, heading inside.

-

five days. five days left. daniel was over at jonah's helping him pack.

"i have something for you. it's nothing special, but i thought i'd just give it to you." daniel said as he reached into his pocket.

he pulled out a cork.

"it's just a cork?" jonah said as daniel handed it to him.

"it's the cork from the first wine bottle we shared. remember jonah? you came over and we drank together. that was the beginning of the end." daniel said as he watched jonah roll it around in his hand.

"you saved it?" jonah asked.

"i save all of them. it's just some weird thing i do, i guess." jonah smiled as he slipped it into his suitcase.

"thank you, daniel." jonah said, pulling daniel down next to him.

"and daniel, this isn't the end. there will never be an end to our love, okay?"

"d'accord."
