"perfection"- a kairi and mattia story

Its been a week. No words have been exchanged between us since that day and school is just painful. I've skipped like half of the week and my grades are already going down. Everyday that passes just feels like a chore. The boys have tried to fix things, especially Alejandro but i don't think we'll be able to get anything through Kairis thick skull at this point.

"Its time to confront Kairi directly at this point Mattia, he cant ignore us if we're right in front of him."

"ok." Mattia said blankly following Alejandro to the front entrance of the school staring at his feet the whole time.

They walked up to the dull Kairi. His mood had greatly changed too, all he did was focus on school now and he practically lived on the internet, unlike the cheerful bubbly Kairi, this one ignored everyone unless they were on his phone screen. Almost the whole group had cut him off after they got told what had happened. They caught up to him about to start walking home.

"Kairi!" Alejandro called

He stopped and turned back to them.

Mattia looking everywhere except at Kairi.

andd.... turned back around.

"Turns out you can" Alejandro said quietly to Mattia, taking his hand and guiding him back to his car in the parking lot.

When Kairi turned back around the second time, slightly hoping they were still there he saw that sight and just watched them.

Mattias pov:

I got home and showered, well more like sat in the shower for 30 minutes debating life but it counts. I got out and felt relaxed. My whole body was at peace but for some reason my mind still felt kind of fuzzy. It felt like what tv static would feel like.
I was feeling nice and tv staticy that is until I turned on my phone and boom.

kairi: mattia
kairi: im sorry
kairi: i really am. i get that your mad at me and you have every right to be but you also need to know that i didn't mean it
kairi: take your time, but pls talk to me soon. i miss you.

mattia: *you're

kairi: oh. 

Thats it. As much as i miss that kid, Alejandros right. I deserve better and if he really means it he should have said that in person. I felt much nicer now for some inexplicable reason. I think it was being able to be the petty one for once.

I settled on my bed and just scrolled through tik tok but not even 5 minutes later,, clinking. From the window. I've watched too many scary movies to investigate so i closed the blinds and ignored it.

kairi: its kind of cold out.

Fuck.

I went towards the backdoor, i was just starting to feel better. When I opened the door I was somehow still surprised to see the smaller boy there, casually waiting with his head down while bumping his two fingers together (👉👈)

I couldnt help but laugh, goofy Kairis the best Kairi, but im still mad at him so I quickly changed my mood back and walked in front of him heading to my room.

third person:

"You cant correct my spelling if im talking" Kairi said making himself comfortable on Mattias bed.

"True"

"Im sorry"

"Oh" Mattia looked away

"Mattia.." Kairi said lightly tapping Mattia's chin signaling him to look at him.

He quickly leaned in an gave Mattia a small peck, earning a wide smile from him.

"You're not going to freak out this time are you?"

"Shut up"

No answer.

"Wait no stop I didn't mean it like that"

Silence.

"Stopppp" Kairi said smiling, trying to push Mattia.

"Mattia Mattia Mattia"

A burst of laughter.

"Thank you Kairi, you have cured me" Mattia said putting a hand on his chest while using his annoying girl voice.

"I think I deserve a kiss" Kairi said looking up at Mattia with puppy eyes

"I think you do" Mattia said giving him another quick peck.

Everything was perfect for that moment and the two days that followed. No labels, no drama, no one else except for them.

Everything was all Mattia ever dreamed of. That is until school started again. They decided they wouldn't tell anyone about what they were until they figured it out themselves. So when going back to school on Monday, Mattia didn't find it too hurting when Kairi let go of his hand before entering everyone else's eyesight. What hurt him was that Kairi immediately pretended he didn't even knew who the boy walking next to him was.
