YN had been standing around for quite some time waiting for a chance to play the new game, and she was damn well going to get her turn. Before anyone could get past her, YN thrust forward and gripped the machine's sides to assert her presence. Heart quickening, she knelt down, one hand still on the control panel, and slid her quarters into the slot. A chilling base sound emitted from the speakers as the logo wrote itself threadlike onto the screen, a bright blue that made the teen blink a couple of times. Kids were forming a small crowd around her, and she did her best to ignore them, too close for comfort. Words flashed on the screen reading "WAVE 1: BEGIN", and she placed her fingers on the buttons. Let's go, she thought to herself.

Ahhh...SHE's here.
Up close, I can see why I was so intrigued in the first place. Still, I won't go easy on her...
The machine watched in silence as the girl flicked the controls, piloting the tiny geometrically-rendered spaceship to aim for the geometrically-shaped targets. He narrowed the cold eye behind his screen as he watched the unchanging expression on her face. Cold, determined eyes, fixed lips that most likely concealed grit teeth. She was focused, all right. Most of the female children he'd already had his fill of played the game nonchalantly, like it was a passing fancy and they had other things on their mind. But not this girl. Whoever she was, she was something out of the ordinary. (Just what I need), he thought to himself with a grin, slowly but surely gathering the data he needed on this mysterious girl. (You're a stubborn little one, but mark my words I'll make you mine...)
(pov: YN)
YN had gotten a pretty good score so far, and it looked as though she was going to beat the first level. A few kids had started jeering and telling her to hurry up, even though it had only been about three minutes since she'd started her turn. It was all she could do to block them out. Confidently she hit the fire button and maneuvered the ship around the target in the center. And then...
"Beat it, chick. Let someone else have a shot."
The girl was roughly pushed aside by the boy from before, who started taking over the game she'd paid for. A few kids in the crowd snickered at her, and mumbled snippets of conversation like "Loser..." "who does she think she is..." could be heard. Anger flared up inside YN at that moment, a hot rage she'd gotten used to since starting high school. She watched in terse silence as the brutish male lost her last life, then shouted a foul curse and slapped the control panel as hard as he could. "I hate this damn game!!!" he roared, already fishing in his pocket for more quarters to feed into the slot. YN didn't stick around. Face burning, she stormed out of the Sparkade, got on her bike, and headed as fast as she could for home.
