Chapter 3- I Win
I fell asleep last night so I missed dinner. And that also meant not being properly introduced to my dad's wife and child. I took a quick shower and threw on some blue jeans and a dark grey pac-man t-shirt. I paired it with my red converse high tops. Then I pulled my dark blonde hair into a pony tail and then trotted down the steps. I never really bothered with make-up. It just felt disgusting having something layered on your face for the rest of your day.
"Good morning Ms. Evans." James greeted. "Good morning James!" I perked. James led me to the breakfast room. It was really cool! The breakfast room was so bright and huge! It had 3 white and pastel blue walls. Then the last wall at the back was all glass which was focused on the garden at the back! "It's beautiful." I breathed. I took a seat on one of the chairs to the side. Then, a beautiful lady and a young boy walked in, along with my father. "Good morning Taylor." My dad greeted. "Good morning to you too!" I smiled. "Hi Taylor! I didn't get to properly introduce myself, I'm Kara and this is my son, Gabriel." The lady introduced. She seemed so nice, I hope she really is, I've seen enough cinderella movies to know that step-mothers were mean. I smiled back in response. "Taylor, dear. We know that you have come here, to turn a new leaf or escape something. And we understand that, so that is why we will give you a 100% fresh new start. So we have come up to a conclusion and agreed on letting you go to school." My father explained. I froze. I didn't know wether to love it or hate it. I love that I was going to finally start over, but I hated the fact that they didn't talk to me about it sooner. Well then again, I did fall asleep... But I was really nervous. Maybe I was going to experience the same thing back in New York. Maybe I wasn't going to fit in again. "How did you get me enrolled in a school so fast?" I asked, hoping none of them was like a principle or something. "We are rich!" Little Gabriel cheered. I couldn't help but laugh.
We continued to eat our feasty breakfast in silence. Afterwards, I was given a backpack, which I'm glad wasn't decorated, just a plain mint-green Jansport. Inside was a binder, a mini planner and other necessary school supplies. 5 minutes later, James drove me to school after saying goodbye to my dad. 'At least your getting along well with your dad.' I thought.
"Nervous?" James asked from the front of the black Dodge Nitro.
"Yeah...little bit. Okay maybe a lot."
"Well don't be. And not from a concerned gaurdian's perspective but, I think you will make great friends here in California. I have a good feeling." He encouraged. 'I like this butler.'
James dropped me off at the front of the school. Now I actually knew the official name of the school. Bear Creek Highschool. (A/N: This is not a real school in California...I think, this was the best I could come up with!) I walked into the building, trying to look confident and failing miserably. I looked to my right and spotted the office.
"Hello! You must be our new student. Taylor Evans?" A middle aged woman with ginger hair greeted.
"Y-yes. That's my name!" I replied, trying my best to be cheerful as her.
"Well, today is kind of a morning rush so please try and keep up with the stuff I'm about to give you. Here is your schedule. Your first class is with Mr. Baker and he is room C12. He is upstairs, take a right to the end of the hallway, another right then left. He should be the 5th door on the right." The lady rushed.
'I did not get any of that.'
"Thank you." I smiled.
The bell has rung by now so I was the last person to be in the halls. It took me a while to find Mr. Baker's classroom but I finally did! Before I entered, I made sure my phone was silenced.
"-and that will me the assignment for today." A male voice announced. As soon as everyone has realized I was at the door, they turned their heads towards me. I shuddered. I am very self conscious, no surprise there.
"Well! It looks like we have a new student!" Mr. Baker said.
"Taylor Evans."
"Well, Ms. Evans, welcome to drama class." Mr. Baker welcomed.
'What?! Drama class?! I never signed up for this!'
I stayed poised in the outside, occupying one of the empty chairs in the room while in the inside I was like a scared and terrified chihuahua.
Everyone turned back to their business. They all got up, choosing each other as partners. I awkwardly just remained in my seat until everyone was partnered out. 'Yay. I'm the odd one out.'
"Ms. Evans. You will be partnered up with Dylan Hunter, who seems to be late again."
At the mention of the name 'Dylan Hunter', every girl started giving me dirty looks. Hmm...I must've gotten some hunk that skips drama class. Can't wait! *not the sarcasm*
I jumped at the door suddenly bursting open. 'NO WAY! IT CANNOT BE! No way in the gates of Hogwarts is that who I think it is! It was 5 Seconds of Summer! Carrying a poster that said 'Will You Marry Me Taylor Evans?' But who was I kidding? Of course it wasn't them.'
Instead, it was that rude, arrogant jerk face I sat with on the plane.
"Sorry, I'm late." He apologized but he didn't really seem to mean it.
"Again Mr. Hunter! One more tardy and you will be sent to a 2 week detention!" Mr. Baker warned.
"Ooo. I'm scared." The jerk mocked.
The jerk then sat across the room.
"Ms. Evans and Mr. Hunter please come here for both of you were late and did not hear the assignment. But an excuse is given to Ms. Evans because she is new." Mr. Baker said.
We both walked towards the room. It looked like The Jerk already figured out who I was and gave a scowl.
"Our assignment is actually an in-class project we will be doing for half of the first semester. Each team was given a topic, yours will be drama. Anyways, the assignment is where you create the mood and create a heart thrilling scene without using any dialogue or any form of sound. Understood? Good." Mr. Baker explained, then he left to attend to the other teams and checked on progress.
"What are you doing here?" The jerk asked rudely.
"So when will we be planning out the plot for the drama?" I asked, completely ignoring his question.
"Hey! I asked you first." He flared, stepping into my personal bubble.
"Well I guess tomorrow then." I simply replied. Why was he so moody?
"Don't ignore me! Nobody ignores me!" He pointed out. Still glaring.
"Did someone give you like STD's or something? Your so cranky." I asked, plastering on an innocent smile.
"What?!" He half shouted.
The bell rang just in time, so I got up and collected my stuff. But before leaving I turned around to say one last think to the jerk.
"I win." I smirked.
A/N: This may have been a bit boring but I think its better than the last 2 chapters. I know I'm taking a really long time getting to the juicy parts but please be patient! I'm gonna get better! Please be patient with me!!! See ya guys later xx!
