"I'm Mark." He says subtle as he stands up and walks over to me.
I examine him closely and I realize I have seen him before.
When I first found Rue. He was the man she was on a date with.
"Mateo." I answered back emotionless. I shook his hand and looked at Rue.
Ava looked between us and sighed, "Hey Luca, wanna go get something to eat from the cafeteria?" She asks him as she walks over to him.
"Can I get ice cream?" He asks her excitedly.
"If your mom is okay with it." She answered looking over to Rue.
"That's fine." She answered back in a quiet voice.
Luca smiles and runs over to Rues bed and tries to climb up it. When he fails on the 3rd attempt. Mark walks over and gives him a boast up. Luca kisses Rues head and hugs her. Luca hugs Mark and waves bye to me as he grabs Avas hand and pulls her out of the room.
I look at Rue who is looking very nervous.
"So Rue, how are you feeling?" I ask her as I wheel closer to her bed. As I get closer to her bed Mark takes a step over to avoid me of getting in arms length of Rue. I resist the urge to punch his little smug face.
"I'm okay." She answers me as she tries to adjust her body. She winces in pain and I try to reach towards her but Mark reaches her first.
"Woah there, Babygirl you know you can't be moving around on your own just yet." He tells her as he helps her adjust her body.
My eyes open wide and I can't help but grit my teeth towards this Mark guy.
Rue looks at me and notices my mood and sighs.
"Hey Mark can you go get me some water please?" She asks him softly.
"Of course." He leans down and plants a kiss on her lips. "Anything else?" He asks her as he is about to open the door. She shakes her head no and he leaves.
I stare at Rue in disbelief and so much anger.
"Let me explain Mateo."
"Save it. I don't want to know." I say as I turn around and wheel towards the door. I stop and turn towards her. "You know what Rue, it would have been nice to know. Then you wouldn't have had to deal with me trying to win you back. This whole time I truly thought I had a chance with you. With the first person I ever truly loved. But I was wrong, so wrong. So I wish you the best Rue. I will talk to Ava about Luca and then you will never have to deal with me again." I finish and take a deep breath. I turn my wheel chair back towards the door as Mark comes back in. He looks down at me and back at Rue who has tears in her eyes.
"Baby what's wrong?" He asked her as he rushed over to her. I could feel her stare on me as I wheeled out the door. I reached back and closed the door getting one last look at Rue who is staring out the door at me.
There goes my love once again.
