ddlovato 💗💗"How are you feeling, Dems?"
"Bloated" I stared up at the ceiling, my hand running along my stomach. "And a little sick" I released a breath.
"You want to get out of here?"
"No, I'm okay" I sent Oak my best convincing smile. I grabbed my bottle of water off the table and took a sip. I kept my hand settled on my stomach. I now have a bump; it isn't anything major and it isn't noticeable to anyone else unless you stare at me for a while.
"When's your due date, Dems?"
"November 4th. Matthew's hoping for a Halloween baby. I suggested Pennywise if it's a boy" Oak rolled his eyes and chuckled. I smiled to myself, glancing briefly down at my stomach. "I'm just popping to the restroom" I pushed myself up from the sofa and began from the studio, thankfully making it to the toilet just in time. "You're killing me, Honey. I hope you treat your daddies better than this" I dropped back against the cubicle wall once I was certain I had finished vomiting. "I thought you'd stopped giving me morning sickness, Little One" I grabbed some tissues and began to dab around my mouth. "At least moments like these make me hate you slightly" I chuckled without humour, the sentence causing tears to burn at the back of my eyes. "Okay, are we finished, Bubba?" I pushed myself up from the floor and flushed the toilet. I washed my hands on the way from the restroom, beginning back into the studio where I curled up on the sofa, grabbing my water to take a sip.
"You doing okay, Dems?" I nodded, my fingers running through my hair.
"I thought all this sickness had gone but obviously not."
"You can get out of here, if you want?" I debated it for a moment, my hand settled on my stomach as it turned and twisted. "Demi, go home. I can finish this off" I glanced up at Oak to see a look of concern covering his face.
"But if I go home, I'm just going to be lonely."
"Is there no one free to meet?" I shrugged my shoulders, my thumb hovering over the iMessage icon on my iPhone.
"You sure you're okay to finish up here?"
"Demi, you're my easiest client to work with. Your work never requires much work. If you don't feel well, go home" I chewed on my lip as I debated my options, watching Oak as he played around with the keys on the soundboard. "I don't want you overdoing it, Dems. You're pregnant."
"Are you sure?"
"Go home, Demi" I nodded and sent him my best smile. I pushed myself up from the sofa, grabbed my bag off the floor and dropped my phone into it. I wondered towards Oak and wrapped my arms around him. "I'll finish this up, okay? Come in next week but only if you're feeling better, if you still feel the same, message me, okay? We can reschedule" I nodded as I moved away.
"Thanks, Oak."
"Take care, Sweetheart. I'll see you next week" I sent him a wave as I turned to leave the studio. I met up with Max outside who looked concerned at the sight of me. I wasn't supposed to be finished at the studio for another hour and a half.
"You okay, Demi?" I nodded, closing my eyes as I leant my head against the car window, the thought of going home to an almost empty apartment didn't sit well with me at all.
"Can we go back to mine and pick up the dogs. Then would you be able to take me to my parents?"
"Of course, Demi" I released a breath, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to well up in my eyes as the car began to move. I could tell, even with my eyes closed that Max wanted to ask what was up. He wanted to know what was going on inside my head.
"I don't want to talk about it, Max."
"I wasn't going to ask, Dems, but if you ever feel like you need to talk to someone, you can always come to me" my lips tugged ever so slightly. It fell silent around us as we continued towards my apartment. All I did was pack a bag and grab my dogs before I left. Max helped me with Batman and Ella as we began back down into the parking garage. I was silent the entire time, unable to form my emotions into words, unable to express my emotions to Max. My fingers ran through Batman's fur as his head poked out of his carrier. I would find my hand every so often settling on my stomach but I would remove it as soon as I realised what I was doing. "Dem?" I jumped, not having realised we had pulled into my parents driveway. I lifted my head off the window and glanced to Max who was sat in the driver's seat, staring back at me with a look of worry. I turned to glance out the window to see my mom stood in the front doorway.
"Thanks, Max. I'll message you."
"Take care, Demi" I gave him a smile before I climbed from the car. Batman and Ella almost dove from their carrier the instant they saw my mom. I could see my mom's face contorting to worry as I began towards her, carrying the carrier on one arm and my bag on the other.
"Hey, give me the dogs" I handed the carrier to mom who lowered it down to the floor and unfastened it, Batman and Ella darting straight into the house. "What's with the bag?"
"Can-Can I stay here for bit?"
"Of course you can, Honey" I stared down at the floor, tears gathering in my eyes. "Oh, Baby" I broke down into a fit of sobs, the instant that mom wrapped her arms around me, pulling me tightly into her embrace.
