"...and so that variable becomes irrelevant now since the equation does't call for it..."
You subconsciously hear Mrs. Kraler's voice droning on in the background as you daydream about yesterday. Working with Asgore at the flower shop had been the most enjoyable time of your life, and the memory of it has filled your thoughts. You'll go again today after school, you think to yourself. Hopefully the shop won't be as busy this time so you can chat some more with Asgore. Maybe he could show you the magic he used to speed up the flowers' growth, or teach you how to use the register, or...
You pause as you remember the note in fine print on the shelf under the register. Something about Frisk and who you suspected to be Asgore's ex-wife leaving town to live somewhere else. You start to wonder about the rest of the note. What was on it?
"...so can anyone explain to me what we would do in this situation?"
Mrs. Kraler's question snaps you back to reality. You glance around at your peers. None of them raise their hands.
"(Y/N)," says Mrs. Kraler, "Why don't you explain what to do?"
"Uh..." you stammer, panicking. You hadn't listend to anything she said! You're about to excuse yourself to the bathroom when Cayna Brooks to your far left raises her hand saying, "Mrs. Kraler, he's gonna take forEVER to answer. Can I just solve it instead?"
You stare at Cayna, a bit surprised. Youre3not sure weather to be offended at the half-insult, or thankful that she just saved your ass from being yelled at for not paying attention.
Mrs. Kraler responds to Cayna saying, "I mean, sure."
You and Cayna exchange glances before she starts explaining how to solve the confusing algebraic expressions. You cringe inwardly as you think of what the other guys in your class will have to say about a girl standing up for you...especially Duke.

As you look around for a free table at the cafeteria, you see Cayna with her friends at the largest circular table. You don't want to embarrass yourself further by trying to talk to the girls at lunch in front of everyone who would assume you're being a creep, but you owe her one for covering for you back in Algebra. Nah, you think to yourself, I'll just thank her at study hall or something. You find a table occupied by two other peers and start eating your lunch.
You halfway through when someone roughly pushes you into the table. You gag on your food and cough it back up instantly. A hand grips your shoulder and you are jerked to face Duke Harrison. He's smirking  in his dumbass way that he always does when he sees he's hurt someone.
"Duke!" You splutter, "What the hell?!"
"I told you you'd be dead before. You forget?"
"Nah, actually you made that very clear. So clear, in fact, that I don't need to remind me, so go fuck off over there somewhere." You gesture towards the other end of the cafeteria. Duke doesn't seem to care.
"Do you wanna fucking die kid?" He says in your face.
"Oh my god, Duke, leave him alone."
You look past Duke to see Cayna standing defiantly in front of the bully. Dukekeeps his eyes locked on you.
"Stay out of this, Cayna," he threatens.
"No seriously," she says, spinning him around to face her, "North wants you to get your ass back in your seat."
Duke glares first at Cayna and then at you before saying, "Fine, whatever," and stomps back to his table. Cayna looks at you with an almost amused expression.
   "What?" You ask.
"'What?'" She echoes. "I saved your ass twice in one day and all you can say is 'what'? Your an idiot." Cayna sits down in the seat next to you.
"Well," you reply after a bit, "Thanks, I guess. You didn't have to help me, though."
"I figured you get into enough trouble," Cayna says, twirling her deep chestnut-coloured hair around her finger.
"Look, I'm sorry, Cayna. I'm just a little preoccupied at the moment."
"Mind if you tell me why?" Cayna inquires. You shoot her a look that says, "actually, yeah".
"Oh," she says. "Well, okay then." She gets up to leave when you stop her saying, "Wait, sorry. I...I changed my mind. I'll tell you."
Cayna sits back down slowly, giving you a confused look. You take a deep breath and begin to bring her up to speed on everything that's happened to you in the past few days.
