Chapter 5

In the morning after breakfast Fen Bai had to leave for work, Xiao Yu was a little worried about staying in the house by himself but Fen Bai told him just to watch tv and play video games if he got bored then left. Since arriving Xiao Yu had never been able to fully relax mostly because Aunty Chi was watching him like a hawk, ready to strike when he did anything other than sit.

Spending the whole morning playing video games Xiao Yu's stomach growled a little past noon. Toddling into the kitchen Xiao Yu opened the fridge and saw Fen Bai had placed a bowl of the cold noodles in a container with a note: DOGS FOOD. Xiao Yu scrunched the note angrily and searched around the kitchen to find the bin.

*KNOCK KNOCK

Xiao Yu jumped. No one had ever visited Fen Bai's house since he had arrived; now that he was alone he didn't know what to do.

*BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG

The knocking changed to loud banging against the front door scaring Xiao Yu, He grabbed his noodles and ran to Fen Bais room hiding in the wardrobe. At first he was too scared to eat and could only sit shakily with his back against the door in hopes his skinny body would be enough to keep the door closed, in case the person at the door was able to break in.

Xiao Yu didn't know how long he had been hiding but he was less scared and more hungry but he didn't bring chopsticks. Sighing inwardly Xiao Yu could only bring the container to his mouth eating like an animal. With a full tummy Xiao Yu was less scared but still didn't want to risk leaving the closet in case the person was still at the door. Xiao Yu's became bored quickly while sitting on the floor, boredom turning into sleepiness.

Fen Bai returned home at 8:30 pm and the tv showed a paused racing game. Fen Bai walked around the first floor but didn't find Xiao Yu; walking back to the entrance he saw only Xiao Yu's leather slippers were missing. Fen bai paused and glanced to the stairs. Reaching into his briefcase Fen Bai pulled out a gun and silently walked up. Fen Bai first walked to the second guest bedroom but it was empty. Lightly turning the handle to his study it was still locked. Fen Bai went to his room last, the main area clear and bathroom empty too. Fen Bai pushed the door to his wardrobe but it wouldn't open.

Fen Bai pushed harder and could see Xiao Yu's legs. Fen Bai put the gun on a close by shelf and pushed the door open moving Xiao Yu as well. stepping into the closet Fen Bai saw the empty noddle container next to Xiao Yu's face that was dirtied with sauce.

*POKE POKE

Fen Bai poked his finger against Xiao Yu's forehead until he awoke. When Xiao Yu first opened his eyes he didn't realize it was Fen Bai in front of him and scooted backwards.

"Why are you sleeping here? Also food is to be eaten at the table or bar not my wardrobe."

Fen Bai pointed to the container. Lin Yu sat up his body sore from sleeping on the floor.

"Someone came to the house, they were banging on the door and wouldn't stop. I got scared and ran here."

"You got scared but still brought a snack?"

Fen Bai picked up the container heading out of the room to go down stairs. Xiao Yu followed behind not speaking.

"Go wash your face then sit on the sofa."

When Xiao Yu came back looking more presentable, Fen Bai was holding a tablet sitting on the sofa. Sitting down Xiao Yu saw on the tablet was the front area of the house.

"What time did the person come?"

Xiao Yu thought back and told Fen Bai it was around noon. Putting in the time stamp Fen Bai skimmed forward until he saw an older man in a suit walk to the front door. This man didn't look like someone special, instead he resembled any other average person you would walk past without even knowing. Xiao Yu leaned closer to Fen Bai to get a better look but didn't recognize him.
