Taichi could hear soft, consistent beeps. He knows it's not his alarm; it's usually a lot louder, and plays the Autumn Troupe's most recent song when it goes off. The teen opened his eyes, only to be instantly blinded by the white ceiling. He quickly shut them, and then slowly opened them again so he could get used to the light of the room. When his eyes adjusted, he noticed he was in a hospital room. The soft beeping came from the monitor on his right, each beep representing the fact that he was still alive. Taichi slowly sat up, feeling some slight stinging from the area he got shot. The curtains on his left were open, and sunlight shown through the window - this made him wonder how long he had been out, since it was raining the last time he remembered.
Taichi felt his bedsheet shift slightly, and he looked down to his right to see Omi resting at his side. The older male was asleep, his head resting on his crossed arms as he sat. Taichi smiled; Omi looked peaceful. Usually Omi's mood would show even in his sleep, so the fact that it looked like he wasn't too worried was a relief to Taichi. Looking around, he noticed that the rest of his troupe was in the room, as well as the other highschoolers. They were all talking amongst themselves, so they haven't seen Taichi awake yet. School was probably over, and they came to visit. Taichi giggled a little; it was nice to see how many people worried about him.
Taichi felt Omi shift beside him. His small laughter might've woken him up; Omi was always a light sleeper. Omi looked up slightly at Taichi, drowsiness still apparent on his face. But that changed to shock when he noticed Taichi looking back at him.
"Taichi!" Omi exclaimed, jumping out of his chair. His exclamation caught everyone else's attention, causing them to look towards Taichi. Their faces flooded with relief, and soon enough everyone was crowded around Taichi's bed. Several people began talking at once, most of them being questions like "are you okay" and "what happened", and Taichi's head began to hurt trying to process it all.
Thankfully, Sakyo spoke up. "Everyone, be quiet! Can you not see that he's being overwhelmed?" His statement managed to get everyone to fall silent, and they all waited Taichis answers.
Taichi smiled, trying not to worry everyone further. "I'm fine, you guys! I don't feel the injury at all!"
"That's because you're sitting down though..." Tenma mumbled the obvious under his breath, which received a firm elbowing from Juza, who was close enough to hear him. It was not the time to mention that.
Omi breathed a sigh of relief, clenching the bedsheets beneath his hands. "That's good, you really scared us there... Izumi-san looked like he was about to pass out of worry when he saw you."
Confusion coloured Taichi's face, and he tilted his head slightly in said confusion. He hadn't heard that name before (other than their director's, but Omi just called her Izumi) – not that he ever really remembered names all that quickly.
Omi noticed Taichi's confusion, and laughed a little at the younger boy's puppy-like demeanor. "He was one of the boys we saved, the orange-haired one."
Taichi's mind flashed back to the alley moment. He remembers the red-haired boy he managed to pull out of the situation, Taichi (surprisingly) remembering his name as Riku, and vaguely remembers the other boy, who had orange hair. That was probably the boy Omi was talking about. But Taichi also remembers the wounds that littered Mistuki's body. "Is he okay? I remember he had a lot of injuries..."
Sakyo is the one to respond. "He's in the room next to us. He seemed fine; his wounds were all patched up." Sakyo sighed in exasperation. That was all he managed to notice before Iori, the younger Izumi brother, kicked him out of the room. He could understand why though; Sakyo is a part of the yakuza, it's no wonder he seemed suspicious.
Omi nodded, agreeing with Sakyo's statement before adding to it. "You're both apparently allowed to leave tomorrow, so rest up tonight."
"How long have I been out for?" Taichi asked, glancing at everyone in the room. He hoped he had not been out for too long; that would be a lot of work to catch up on, and Taichi absolutely dreaded homework.
His hopes dashed with Tenma's reply. "Two days," Tenma replied while reaching into his backpack. "Sensei gave us a ton of stuff, and I have all of your worksheets." Tenma pulled out the papers, placing them on Taichi's lap. Taichi stared in horror at the amount of pages; it looked like an entire textbook.
Beside Tenma, Sakuya smiled softly. "If you need help, we wouldn't mind," the pink-haired boy offered. "Tsumugi-san said he'd be busy with the rehearsals for the next show, so he won't be able to help too often..." The Winter Troupe show was happening soon, leading all of Winter Troupe to being locked up in the practice room for most of the day. It was a miracle Tsumugi had even found the time for tea a couple of days ago.
"Do you mind helping me a bit now, then?" Taichi asked, picking up all of his worksheets. "I might as well work on this now since I'm stuck here..." He quickly scanned the papers for the subjects. Of course most of it was history and English. Taichi groaned, falling back onto the hospital bed.
Sakuya laughed at the younger boy's reactions, smiling brightly. "We'll gladly help," he exclaimed, pulling along Banri, who had been silent beside him. The brunette resisted a little, before going to sit beside Sakuya in a spare chair. The atmosphere of the room lightened a little, with the highschoolers joking around and all. Soft laughter filled the hospital room, reminding Taichi that he wasn't alone.
