I sit on the bed again, staring absent-mindedly at the broken seal on the ground in front of me.
"I have them too," he says, I look next to me to where he sits on my left side. "The visions - the dreams."
"What do they mean?" I ask with wishful thinking that he will have an answer.
"I don't know," he says, his eyes also falling mindlessly on the pentagram, "I think they're trying to tell me something but I don't know what."
"It must be important, we need to find out its intentions," I say.
"Well - what do we do?" he asks.
"I don't know anymore," I admit in defeat "it's too powerful to try and trap and interrogate - and it looks too dangerous to stay close for too long."
"I'm going to go back to his room, I need to have a moment." He says, I look at him in disbelief.
"What - Now?" I ask.
"I just - need to think this all through." He says, "maybe it will help me think of a new way around this."
"Whatever you need," I say, not wanting to get into anything with the only social contact I have.
"Thanks," he says, slipping off the bed and walking straight out the door. I watch him the whole way out, trying to remember which room I first made contact with him.
I now sit alone in the room in utter silence, trapped with my endless thoughts questioning everything about this dull, empty hospital. Nothing at all made sense, soon enough I begin to question reality and my own sanity. Maybe it's just a terrible dream, one so vivid it feels so real. No, that can't be it. I pick up the stone-cold pillow from the bed and throw it at the wall in a small surge of frustration. Lucky for Jayden's presence or I'd probably put it down to pure madness.
Suddenly an alarm sounds from outside, now I start to think maybe I am mad. A blurred figure races past the door, I squint in confusion, did I really see that? Or is my lonely mind playing tricks on me? I jump off the bed and walk out the door to investigate, I look to the direction the figured had moved and sure enough there stands a woman in scrubs. She's stopped at the reception leaning over the counter top with a corded phone in hand. I make my way towards her, catching parts of the conversation as she panics.
"I'll send as many people as I can Dr," she says "what room?" I can't hear a response but somehow a number flashes into my head. I don't know why but somehow the number feels familiar as if it holds importance to me. It takes my mind a few seconds to register and I continue to watch as the nurse calls doctors over the speakers to the very same room pictured in my mind. It then hits me as to why it's so familiar. It's Jayden's room.
The nurse dissolves into a puff of fog, the alarm slowing until it comes to a complete halt. I'm left standing alone once more, staring around the white walls of the large reception, looking for signs to the elevators. I spot it, the sign hanging from the roof pointing to the right. I follow without hesitation running as fast as I can in a fit of panic. I can't be sure what that little scene meant but I can't ignore it.
I get to the end of the hallway pressing the button as quickly as I can as if that will hurry the elevator.
"Cmooon!" I push, it finally opens and I rush in, instantly pressing for his level, again with intensity and eagerness. Finally the doors close and I make my descent. I impatiently tap my foot on the floor, standing straight in front of the doors so I can jump straight off. As soon as they open I rush out, I turn back to the left out towards the reception area as I turn the corner to look down the hall that's when I see it.
Jayden. In the arms of the demon.
