Saving Alpha Ryan

Chapter 2

5:40 AM
Location: gas station/ store
Pulling into the gas station after driving all night. I was itching to stretch my legs. Ryan was still sound asleep. His face injuries have lessened so his Wolf healing has kicked in. But you can still see little glimpse of the previous night all over his body. Parking in front of the store. I made sure to secure the blanket over Ryan's naked body before I exited the car and locked it behind me. He was a strong alpha I reminded myself. He could take care of himself. But that didn't stop me from wanting to protect him at all costs.
"Hello " I heard from behind the register.
Looking up at the young boy, I smiled in return. And headed towards the men clothing aisle. I didn't really know his size so I picked about 7 shirts and 7 pants, underwear and 3 running shoes. And some shades since I've seen him wear them at a meeting so previously.
Along the way to the register I picked up snacks. We still had a few hours until we reached our safe haven
" hey umm Charlie.... is there like a diner or food place close to here?"  I asked the human boy glancing at his name tag
Charlie looked at me in surprise not expecting me to talk to him. After all supernatural creatures were tall and very attractive.
"Umm yeah there's a place next door actually. They have great bacon and pie" he replied excitedly
I smiled and said a "thank you"
I picked up my bags which I paid for " umm do you need help?" I looked at the 7 bags of clothing and snacks.
I didn't really need the help I was stronger than a human. Plus I didn't want him to see Ryan. We were on the run after all.
" umm I think I can manage. Thank you Charlie" I stated trying to balance the bags in 2 hands. Not waiting to hear his reply
I returned  to the car and struggled  with the keys at first. I put the bags in the backseat.  And noticed the diner. "Stevie's pie"
I walked over and ordered food for me and Ryan while I was there I called an ally and secured a location for me and Ryan . As I walked back . I noticed shuffling in the car. He's awake. My heart skipped a beat. I opened the driver's seat and handed him the food bags.
" what's this" he asked his green eyes piercing my soul..  I was captivated and forgot how to speak
His eyes faltered I guess he noticed his effect on me. Or maybe he was also experiencing my effect on him.
" umm it's our breakfast and there's water too" I stated with a low voice
Closing the door, i sighed " I'm so hungry" smiling I grabbed the bag out of his hand and started to eat
" I bought you clothes" I said handing him the bag. I drove into the gas pump
" I'm going to get gas. You can get changed" I said after finishing my food and exiting the car.
I hoped the clothes fit him. As I filled up the gas tank. Ryan opened the passenger door and stood up in front of me. I inhaled deeply and took him in. His intoxicating masculine smell made me feel safe and at home. He was wearing a grey hoodie with some sweatpants and he decided to put shades on. But I couldn't tell if he put them on to camouflage his appearance or if it was for the bright sun above us. It was sunny indeed.
" I'm going to the restroom" he stated
" I bought some stuff to clean up for when we get to our destination. But I guess there's no harm in freshening up now" I said sidestepping him and grabbing a small bag from the backseat.
"Here" I said and he nodded at me and gave me a small smile which I returned
I watched him walk to the restroom and I sighed in relief.
Entering my car I checked the Navigator and realized there's going to be a lot of traffic in our route , I called Hayden an old friend the alpha of the pack we were going to stay in.
"Hey Hayden, it's me. Just letting you know. We may be there a little later than expected." I said to the phone
" oh alright, that's not an issue Edith. We'll be waiting for you. You know my pack will be happy to have you with us. After all, we owe you for so many things." He replier in his usual upbeat tone
"Well I know you and Ryan have had some differences in the past..." I started but he interrupted me
" look that's all in the past. He lost everything. But he's lucky he's still got you"
I heard a door open outside and realized Ryan was walking over
"Well I have to go now. I'll see you soon Hayden" I quickly stayed wanting to get off the phone
" you be safe Edith. I don't want to lose my chess partner" he answered with a laughed
I chucked and hang up.
A scowl was on his face as he settled on the passenger seat
"Who was that?" He asked
" I heard a man's voice" he continued with confusion written on his face
" that was Hayden. We're going to be staying in his pack. You know you never asked where we were going" I answered
" how far are we?" He asked not giving much of a feedback to what I just stated
"Maybe 7 hours away. I mean we drove all night so that was half the distance" I said not meaning to sound like I'm complaining. I mean I didn't mind driving but to be honest I was getting tired. My foot was starting to go numb but he's injured so I wasn't about to tell him that.
" all right so I'm going to be driving from now on" he stated in a commanding voice
" you're hurt, I can drive. I'm fine" I tried to argue but he ignored and got out of the car and opened my door
"Get out" he emphasized
"Okay" I said In a defeated tone
15 minutes later
And we were on the road for hours. I watched Ryan drive the car smoothly. Unlike my safe driving he speeds but you can tell he's had practice. Even though we were going past the speed limit. He seemed to control the car with ease and grace. At one point he reached for my hand like I did to him when I was driving. And he intertwined our fingers and I let him.
The hours of driving soon caught up with me and I drifted off to sleep. I may not know what the future holds. But the one person that mattered was with me. So I wasn't nervous. No no.. I was excited for our life together.
