jisung was late to school the next day. chenle didn't even know that was possible.

where could he even be? surely he has some sort of alarm on him, or something.

it was almost 4th hour when the said boy appeared in the doorway of the classroom. "where have you been?" chenle whispered. jisung didn't answer, seeming to be stuck in his thoughts.

does he even have thoughts?

"chenle? earth to chenle?"

"h-huh?"

"can you solve this problem?"

the male squinted at the board for a second. "it's 0. you can't divide 0 by 0 therefore that's what it is."

"very good, but pay attention for once, please. I get you understand this but you still need to be focused."

he nodded his head to pretend like he cared, when in reality there were much better things to care about.

maybe he was just being a bit paranoid and extra. it wouldn't be the first time.

it was just like when renjun was out of school for a week, and the younger had already assumed the boy was dead, when rather he was just back in China visiting relatives.

class was over sooner than chenle expected and he was rushing to meet up with jisung leaving the classroom. he stopped the younger male in the hallway as they currently had a free period. "oh, hey hyung." chenle raises an eyebrow. he was going to ask if jisung was ok, but then remembered jisung doesn't even know what emotions are, other than what he was programmed to feel.

he decided to go with a much simpler approach. "how are you?" ah yes, one of the worst conversation starters. right up in the category of "how's the weather? it's quite nice wouldn't you agree?"  jisung glanced around the hallway before answering, as if looking for something, or someone. "I'm fine hyung. how are you?"

chenle sighed mentally. it was the same awkward atmosphere that he had produced when they first met. he didn't want that, but at the same time he didn't know what he wanted.

"kind of stressed. we have an upcoming history exam I haven't bothered studying for." jisung looked at him and sort of smiled. "if you need help studying you could have just asked me."

that was the most normal the younger had acted all day.

but what is technically normal when you're not even human?

"ok so... are we going to the library or just going to stand awkwardly I'm the hallway for the next hour?"

"... library."

{remember when this was supposed to be completed in February? ha- and pretend it's still 4/20 yay blaze it woohoo}
