You woke up with a feeling of grogginess. You just wanted to stay in bed. But the universe had other plans. You groaned as Jingles licked your face frantically.

You sat up suddenly, flinging the poor dog into your lap.

Why does this feel so familiar?

You take in your surroundings, realizing you weren't in your room. You were instead laying on a bed of golden flowers. Their petals swayed, licking the edge of your pants gently. You stood up and lifted Jingles to put him back in your bag. But there was no bag available.

"Wait what? I swear it was on my back when I fell-" you wondered aloud. A strong fear grips at your heart, and you hastily put the small german shepard down. You whipped your wrist to face you, and you sighed in relief at seeing the small charms hanging securely onto your bracelet.

"Now, where is that bag?" Jingles barked happily at a lump in the shadows, and you walked over to check it, and its contents. Your phone was cracked, the charger was missing, you had one shirt and three socks.

Somehow, you forgot to pack food.

"Welp, no where to go but foward, right J?" He barked and ran ahead.

"Hey hold up!"

You jogged into the next room, making sure your bag was secure, and snatching a stick on the way.

As you entered the next room, you hear a loud, and very irritated shout.

"Stupid mutt, get away from me! How did you even survive the fall!?"

You grit your teeth and jump into action. "Hey you-!" You stutter upon seeing a small flower shooing away your dog.

And it had a face.

"Nasty! Get away, you evil weed!" You attempt to stab the flower, but it shoots into the floor before your stick stabs into the ground.

'Ugh. How strange.'

You pet Jingles and almost took a step foward before hearing a voice.

"Oh! Hello, my child. Are you hurt?"

You froze, and turned your head to see an enormous goat lady. She was perhaps two- three feet taller? Her long ears draped across her shoulders, and she wore a beautiful purple tunic. A strange symbol decorated the front.

"Hi..." You didn't know how to handle this. Monsters were real! You couldn't believe it!

"Do not worry, I only wish to help. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. Come! I will guide you." She disappears into the next room.

You sigh. Mostly to let out some tension. She was pretty intimidating. Even if she didn't mean to. You followed her after carefully placing Jingles in your pack.

You left the stick.

She guided you into a large area with some fancy looking stairs that led to a single doorway. Following her through, there was a puzzle she easily solved. You began to feel bored.

You thought monsters would be cooler? Scarier? Eat children. . .? Well, maybe the last one was a bit harsh. It was just a rumor after all.

You finally walked into a hallway.

"You must trust me child. Forgive me for this."

You watched as she walked with great speed to the end of the hall, and hid behind a pillar. So was she walking slow for you before this? Or was that her trying to elegantly sprint? You snort thinking about it.

Bark! Bark!

The small german shepard sprinted foward, and despite not wanting to run, you did. It felt pretty good.

How does he keep escaping??

Jingles didn't stop running, and sprinted into the next room without you.

"J-! Jingles! Wait!" You hopelessly stopped to suck in a few breaths.

"Oh dear, my child are you alright? Do not worry, I was merely behind this pillar the whole time." It seems Toriel has misunderstood the situation. You glance at her, but you wanted to make sure your dog was okay. You go to run foward, and trip over your own foot.

Toriel looks startled.

"My child! Are you alright?" She offers a hand, and you take it with a face as red as a tomato.

'Well that happened.'

A noise echoed down the hallway, drawing the attention of both you and Toriel. A smaller human, maybe seven or eight, stood at the entrance to the long corridor, wearing a purple striped blue sweater. They don't seem to be in much of a rush as they walk toward you and your goat friend. You take this time to slowly back away from the goat and the child. As much as you'd like to see this play out, you ran out of the room.

Your breath came in puffs as you searched for Jingles.

Instead, you came across a ghost.

"Zzzzzzzzzzz are they gone yet zzzzz"

You looked at the ghost quizzically, but you couldn't go through with them in the way, so you cleared your throat to let them know you were there.

"Oh............hello...."

"Hey, would it be okay if..."

Your words dissipated as the room was plunged into darkness, and something came out of your chest. It looked like a cartoonish heart, only it was upside down and engulfed in flames. The heart pulsed in a bright green, coloring the walls around you in the same color.

"Huh?......your not....human...?"

The ghost glanced at you with the look you had previously given him. "Oh....well...sorry..to....bother you......" his eyes flooded with tears as he did a ghost thing and left. The heart went back into your chest, and you felt whole again. The room's color returned, and you were confused.

At least it was over.

In a small side room, an even smaller bake sale was happening. You looked at the webs which held donuts and cider. Good news, you loved both. Bad news, you had no money to pay for them. As soon as that thought came, the ghost came back, looking a little braver then before.

"Oh.....sorry...I thought..maybe it was rude to leave so suddenly....but if you want something.....I...could buy it for you..........?"

"Really? Thanks, that's very kind of you."

The ghost blushed.

"What's your name, friend?"

"F-friend? Oh..gosh......my name is..Nabstablook...."

You thanked him for the snacks and he left. You put the donut in your pack for later, but drank the cider, which helped to put some energy into your body after all that running. Right, back to the matter at hand. You continued foward, and see-

"Jingles! You ridiculous pile of fur! Don't you ever scare me like that aga-!"

The dog sprinted off with a horrified looking frog in his mouth.

"Jingles! Put the frog down!"

But he was already around the next bend. You sighed, gave a quick wave to a small frog in a crack in the wall, and jogged off to follow your dog.

Again.

You lost track of how many puzzles you were able to go through before you finally collapsed into a pile of leaves somewhere in a corner. You weren't sure where, and you didn't really care that much. You were sick of this place. Before you could do anything else, you were asleep.
