Chapter 3

We got to the car and I sat by my best friend Alexis. Me and her have been friends since birth. We were born in the same year and same month but different times and days. My mom and her mom ( Tasha) were besties too ever since middle school.

As we're driving we hear a siren so my dad pulled over.

"Daddy are we in trouble?" I asked.

" No sweetie. At least thats what I think." He responded.

"We haven't done nothing wrong have we?" I asked.

"No but just in case the police man in the car think we did, do remember what I told you?" He asked.

The girls in the back where quiet.

"Yes I do. You said if we ever got caught in a situation like this, remember the police man badge number and the description of his or hers face."

My dad turned around and told me and the girls:

"Now I know some of you girls might be scared and some might not be. I just want you to know that no matter what happens I love you and to stay calm." He said.

"I love you too daddy. You'll be fine I know you will." I said with tears building in my eyes.

"I hope so sweetie, I really hope so." He said wiping the tears that fell.

The police officer walked up to the car and knocked on the window. He was a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked like he was in his mid thirties. His badge number was 605 I repeated it in my head. My dad rolled down the window while the officer shone a bright flashlight in his face.

"What can I do for you officer?" He said.

"License and registration." The officer spat rudely.

"Yes sir, but why did you pull us over?" Dad said still looking at the officer.

"You don't question me now get out your license and registration!" The officer yelled.

"Sorry sir I'm gonna get my wallet out my pocket ok." Dad said calmly.

"Ok use your index finger and your middle finger to grab it." The officer said getting his gun out.

My breath caught in my throat. My heart started to beat fast in my chest. A bad feeling built up in my stomach. My dad calmly showed his two fingers to the cop. Slowly put his fingers in his pocket and some how got his wallet out his pocket. He opened his wallet and got out his license and gave it to the cop. He snatched my dad's license out his hand and looked at it.

"Ok now registration." The cop said pointing the gun at my dad again.

"It's in my glove compartment sir." Dad said.

"Ok just get it." The cop said.

Dad reached over and opened his glove compartment. When he opened it there was a brush on top of all the papers. Dad went to move it and the cop started yelling and I heard a gunshot and felt a warm liquid spray all over me. I started shaking and tears were building up in my closed eyes. Alexis started crying and screaming for me to open my eyes, but I refused. After 2 minutes I finally decided to open my eyes and what I saw will haunt me for the rest of my life. I saw my dad laying over the seat with a bullet hole in his head. His blood all over the car and on me and Alexis. The police officer calling for back up. He opened the back door and snatched me and Alexis out the car, handcuffed us, and sat us down against the car. The tears that were building up came falling down my face like a river. I just stared out in space and cried. My dad was gone. My best friend, my protector, the light in my darkness. He was gone and he wasn't coming back.
