Saletian Report:

                “Operation of retrieval in the commune of Beret is nearing its conclusion. Retrievers report that a body count of more than 10,000 Sapirs were found dead in the once glorious commune. Retrievers have failed to find any survivors or signs of life in the area. Several bodies found were seen to be not only burnt, but also shriveled and dried. Experiments conducted revealed that the bodies were more likely to have died with those deformities before the huge fire engulfed the whole area. The cause of the deformities and the fire are still shrouded in mystery.”

High Treaty Address

“According to several eye witnesses near the vicinity of the Beretian genocide, the glyph of the Salletian Commune and an army of warriors carrying the glyph were seen entering the area and leaving after a sufficient amount of time an hour before the genocide took place. The High Treaty is currently looking into this to see if the commune in question has anything to do with the mass killing. Also reported accompanying the army is a male Bestandehlian Engineer. The Treaty is also awaiting a response from the Salletian Dathu, Amahterasu.”

                I closed the visional. It is hard to believe that our commune is caught up in the genocide. How will our Dathu explain this to the High Treaty? Will they believe Sallet’s innocence? And more importantly, where was Xanaehla? She surely must be needed by her father?

                Then, it hit me.

                Valkyrie, that crystalline object we have found in Amigon’s office and her Chief Commandier Mellyn usually going out on Amigon’s orders. Maybe there is something more to this than meets the eye.

“Alalkhai, what do you make of this?”

“….”

“Alalkhai?”

“……”

“U-uhmm….”

“You invoked me?”

“Spacing out again?”

“Forgive me, I was contemplating on something.”

“It’s alright. What do you think of all this? Do you think Amigon has something to do with the genocide?”

“It is not proper to put accusation on someone without supporting evidence… ”

“I believe you are right. Forgive me; I went to conclusions easily…”

“Anyway, I have been tinkering with the material I have borrowed from Amigon’s chamber. It seems to contain some form of energy.”

“Energy?”

“Yes, more precisely an energy in crystallized form…”

“Well what matter of energy could it be? Pyros? Kryos? Circtos?”

“That I am not certain as of yet…”

“You should really think of returning it. Amigon might look into his items and discover one missing…”

“No need to worry.”

                I gazed at the bluish crystal Alalkhai was holding. It was almost spherical in appearance, but has various spikes protruding on all sides. The metallic frames enclosed it like a cage and it was giving a faint glow. My eyes were mesmerized by its form. Something about it was so enthralling and so familiar. It is as if I know what it is and I should.

“Alalkhai, may I take a look at the crystal?”

“As you wish.”

                Before my hands could make full contact on the object, the glow it was giving off became more intense. I felt a sudden mixture of despair and fear enveloped my entire body. I heard blood – curdling screams and swords slashing in my head. It was too much. I wanted to just split me brain.

“YOURHIA! YOURHIA!”

                I had no idea that I was already hunched on the floor with tears welling up in my eyes and my hands in my ears. It took me a while to register Alalkhai kneeling beside me and holding my cheeks. The crystalline object was on the ground and seemed to return its original faint glow. What on earth had happened?!

“Is anything ailing you still?”

“I’m alright now, thank you.” I said as I wiped the tears off my face.

“What has happened to you? You suddenly went screaming and crying when I was about to hand you the crystal.”

“I-im not so sure myself. All I remember was feeling so lonely, scared and helpless all of a sudden and the next thing I knew was being sprawled on the floor…”

“That is odd, I did not feel anything similar to that the entirety of this object being in my possession.”

“…..”

“There was one other thing I remember…”

“Yes?”

“There were a lot of Sapirs I think screaming in pain, begging and a lot of what seems to be swords slashing through flesh…”

“What?!”

“I-it was all hazy, but I am pretty certain of what I heard in my mind…”

“Yourhia, I am going to return this back to Amigon’s chamber. You go sit down and rest. We will talk about this upon my return.”

“Understood, but Alakhai , why the sudden seriousness?”

“If what you say that you felt and heard is true, Amigon may be involved in this more than we thought…”
