I had woken up in the woods. My back ached because I was laying on the dew covered ground of dirt. The warm sun was beating down on my face. I didn't want to be there. It felt as if the world was on fire. A burning hell. I stood up on my feet quickly and somehow found my way home without even thinking about it. I had busted through the front door my mother heard the racket and came to see what was going on.
"Genevieve!" My mother yelled. "Do you know how long you were gone! I was so worried about you!"
"I'm sorry mother I didn't expect to not be home."
"That doesn't explain anything!"
My mother firmly walked to the kitchen and wrote on a piece of paper.
"These will be your chores to do everyday for the rest of the week." She handed me a list that had a bunch of chores on it. It said:
·Wash the Dishes
·Do the Laundry
·Churn the Butter
·Milk the Cows and Goats
· Get Eggs from the Chicken Coop
·Feed ALL of the Animals Morning and Night
·Sweep the Floors and the Chimney
·Harvest the Vegtables and Fruit
·Cook Supper
I just stared at the list and my jaw dropped. "How do you expect me to get all of these done in a day all week?"
"Wake up at sunrise everyday. Go to bed a little after sundown." My mother said with a sarcastic smile.
I sighed and knew that I couldn't win this arguement so I gave up and started my chores for the week.
The sun was so hot that day, whenever I had been finished churning the butter I was sure I were to get a sunburn.
Later at around 6:00 in the evening, I started preparing the supper. I was told to make turkey. My mother had bought one in town earlier that morning, it had been killed shortly before my mother had gotten it, or so said the seller.
After I started to roast the turkey I decided to prepare the garnishes for our meal. My mother told me to use carrots and garlic.
When I started to chop the garlic I felt a burning feeling in my hand. "Ow!" I yelled.
My mother came running into the kitchen and said "What on Earth have you done to yourself?"
"My hand started to burn when I started to cut the garlic!"
I peered at my hand, I could tell a blister was going to form later.
"Go get yourself cleaned up now." My mother said softly.
I went to the well by the barn and got some water and washed my hand with it. The water burned my hand, the burn was so bad.
After I finished washing up I went back to the kitchen to find that my mom had finished preparing our meal and handed me a plate and we began to pray. "God, thank you for giving us this food so we can nurish ourselves, Amen."
I had finished my food and as I was about to travel to the woods before bed I felt this hunger. I wondered what it was because I had just eaten supper. I was hungry, but not for normal food. I ignored that feeling and traveled quickly to the woods because my mother was expecting me to be in bed very soon.
I soon got to the woods and I started praying. I soon heard a voice behind me.
"Hello. Hello. Hello." The voice said.
I quickly turned around frightened and screamed.
"It's alright dear one. Tis but I. Victor. Remember?"
"Yes. I do remember. You made me pass out last night. You bit my neck!" I said accusingly.
"I didn't make you pass out. That was your choice you wanted this fate so I gave it to you." Victor said smiling.
I started staring at him my face white as snow.
"You're the reason those strange things happened to me!" I said pointing at Victor, my arm shaking.
"What strange things?" Victor asked like I was crazy.
"This morning I was burning up like the firey pits of hell and I got a nasty burn from garlic!" I exclaimed.
"What did you do to me?" I begged
"Well..." Victor's voice trailed off as he stared at the horizen.
"You have accepted a fate of life forever, beauty for eternity, and freedom for life." He looked at me with a soft gaze.
I was very confused. "What does all of that mean. What am I?" I stared at Victor waiting for an answer.
He said with a sinister smile and stare. "You my dear are a vampire..."
