''Then I'm coming with you!''

''No, I can't let you,'' Prompto replied immediately.

''Why?! I can hold myself and you need someone to watch your back!'' you argued.

''I know, but I don't know if I could watch yours. You can be just as reckless as Noct sometime, you know that? What if I can't reach you in time? It's gonna be even more dangerous with his new powers. He can barely control them.''

''Then let me help you!''

''For Etro's sake [Name], no! I can't let you come, I'll mess up, I'm sure of it... I want you to be safe. And I don't want to chance that. I can't chance that, not this time.''

You could only stare at your friend, despite his determination, he was scared.

For Noctis.

For Ignis and Gladiolus.

For everyone who would wind up involved,

For himself.

And for you.

It was the first time you'd ever seen him so fearful, the first time you saw true fear for the future. It was funny in life's own twisted way, you'd both had close calls before. Some a little too close over stupid things. Though that had never stopped you before.

''Your distracting me [Name],'' you heard rather than saw the smirk.

''A valid handicap,'' you grinned.

''Not gonna' help you, after all, I'm the best.''

''Your the only.''

''Details details,'' the blond waved off before shooting.

His body remained steady despite the recoil, the bullet whispering in the air as a silencer masked it's sound. It hit it's mark with deadly precision, taking the wing mirror clean off the cop car three storeys down and across the road. That would make the score 3:2 to Prompto. Now it was your turn to take off the other.

Currently, the pair of you were in an abandoned building nearer to the outskirts of the city. Traffic went by without so much as batting an eyelid while the two coppers the pair of you decided to torment looked around frantically for the shooter. Neither of them guessing to look up to a wrecked window were you both hid.

You snickered before leaning up a bit and slightly out the broken window. You readied one of your throwing knives, a simple balanced one that did it's job. Your more professional ones back home, now those packed more damage but wasn't really required for the task at hand. After all, it was simply a bit of fun.

You breathed in deep as you held your dominant arm behind you, the cold metal held by only your fingertips. You breathed in deeply before exhaling, then with sharp eyes honing in on your target, you threw with tamed strength. Though had to fall back before your momentum threw you forward and down 30ft below. As appealing as that sounded, you didn't fancy a date with concrete tonight.

''Three three,'' your friend stated before you got a chance to look at your handy work.

''And it looks like it'll remain a draw tonight kiddies,'' a deep voice interrupted you.

You looked up to see more policemen from you upside down view due to laying down whereas Prompto had to look over his shoulder as he was still leaning on the window ledge. Neither of you could help but stare for a moment, processing the fact you was about to be arrested.

Well, that's what they thought.

''Divide and conquer?'' you asked, seeing the bigger men ready themselves.

''Divide and... RUN!'' the older teen shouted, before bolting to your right.

As the cops got distracted by him, you took your chance to run left, making the cops turn on themselves and giving you both a head start. Hopefully, you could loose them in the building itself before you met up again. And you might be able to manage that by the looks of it.

You skidded around a corner leading to a set of rotting stairs before bounding up them two at a time. Though Prompto would definitely have it easier considering how much he'd grown, your legs had also gotten longer now you was 16 going on 17. You were also thankful that you both had enough common sense to wait a little before going for this type of fun.

Had you been caught any earlier and Ignis would definitely lecture you. But what he doesn't know, won't hurt you.

You finally felt yourself warming up as adrenaline began to trickle into your veins once you reached the 5th floor. You ran down a short hallway and turned into a room what you thought used to be an office. As you was nearing the other door, you heard the officers began swarming into the hallway to find you. But you on the other hand was just about to get out.

You readied yourself at the other end of the room across from the open door, a broken window you could easily get thought just beyond. Taking in a deep breath, you pelted yourself forward; scaring the officers as you cut through their path, and landed a foot on the ledge. Propelling yourself forward to the building 10ft away, catching onto the opposite ledge.

A quick look over your shoulder showed you three officers staring dumbfounded at you, with a smirk and a mock salute, you climbed the extra story to the roof of the building. However, you didn't have time to waste as you began to free run across the roof. Your best friend coming up from the side once you got half way, a big grin on his face as he joined you.

You both looked at each other before bursting out laughing and proceeding to cross multiple buildings further into the outskirts of the city. An autumn breeze being your only guide in the early night sky once the police sirens had died out. Acknowledging their defeat at being unable to catch you a few blocks back.

The older male went on ahead and jumped across to the next building before stopping, deciding you had gotten a reasonable distance away from the scene to deserve a break. You smiled at the cheeky wave he sent you before getting ready to jump as well. Though you had to use more force to get the momentum you needed, the building being a bit farther away than usual.

You leaped through the air, extending your legs to reach to reach the ledge. But, you came up short, your toes barely touching the concrete. Your eyes widened as a sick feeling settled in your stomach, the moment of your fall seeming to go in slow motion.

''[Name]!''

''Prompto!'' you cried.

Yet, in the nick of time, a strong hand enclosed around your wrist, pulling you up into strong arms.

You both breathed deeply, clinging on too each other for dear life as you began to calm down. Your legs gave out as you laid down the roof of some unknown building. Your best friend collapsed back as well soon after, his head being next to yours as you looked up at the stars just beginning to shine through.

A pale hand reached up to find yours which you gladly held onto, your adrenaline rush finally dying down. But despite the scare, you laughed, blue eyes regarding you like you were crazy.

''What? We had fun in the end,'' you smiled as you looked back at his upside down head.

''Yeah,'' he sighed, worry slipping into his words, ''But let's not do that part again.''

His eyes slipped closed as he leaned into you, his forehead resting on your cheek.''

''I'm inclined to agree with you there,'' you stated, hearing him let out a laugh. ''But I'm not worried, after all, what is it you always say?''

You felt a small smile come to him as he leaned back to look you in the eye again.
