~Abby’s POV~
I looked at Jack and smiled. Never in my life has anyone said that kind of thing to me. He smiled at me and bit his lip.
“Jack, do you really love me?”
“Yes. Of course I do.”
“Okay. Just checking.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re my best friend and I just don’t want to screw that up.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“That I love you too but I don’t think anything can happen between us right now.”
“Okay. I understand.” He sighed and continued hugging me.
“Good. I do love you Jack.” I smiled.
“I love you too. But I understand that how you feel about Sam is still there.”
“I know. No matter what I do, I can’t make it go away.” I sighed and sat on my bed.
“I know how that feels.” He lightly chuckled as he sat on my bed next to me.
“Sorry Jack. “
“It’s okay.” He smiled.
“I’m glad you understand.” I smiled and hugged him.
“Wanna go do something?”
“Like what?”
“Anything you want. Just getting out of the house will be good for you.”
“Can we go get ice cream?”
“Yeah sure. My treat though.”
“Come on Jack. You buy me literally everything. Let me pay for this.”
“No. I want to do it.”
“Why?”
“I want to because I’m a nice person.”
“Fine. I can’t disagree with that.”
“Damn straight you can’t.”
“You’re such a dork Jack.”
“I know. But the cutest dork ever, right?”
“Whatever floats your boat sweetheart” I giggled before running out of my room. Jack chased me down the stairs and picked me up. I continued my giggling fit as he spun me around. My eyes locked with Sam’s and he glared at us. Jack set me down and I walked out of the house. He caught up to me.
“You seem pissed. Want to go eat some food?”
“Yes please. I need to get away from the house for a while.”
“Want to camp out tonight?”
“That sounds like fun so sure.” I smiled at him and walked down the street. It was around 9:30 and the cold night air was blowing like crazy. “Fuck.” I shivered as I continued walking.
“Are you cold?”
“Yes.”
“Here. Wear this. I grabbed it just in case.” He smiled and handed me a sweater.
“Jack, it’s cold. You’ll need this.” I told him. I handed the sweater back to him.
“I don’t care Abby. You don’t have sleeves right now and I do. I’ll be fine.” He smiled and handed me the sweater again.
“Thanks Jack.” I put it on and it came down to my knees. “It looks like I’m wearing nothing but this.”
“I guess it does.” He chuckled. I grabbed his hand as we walked into the ice cream parlour. The girl at the desk looked at us.
