Kaline woke up and then got dressed before she walked out to have breakfast. But when she walked out and went into the kitchen she didn't see her parents.
"That's weird, they're normally awake by now." she thought.
She made herself some cereal and after she ate she went to her parents' room to see if they were awake. But when she walked in, they were both still sound asleep in their bed. Since she walked to school anyway and didn't want to wake them up, she let them sleep and left a note in the kitchen. She grabbed her backpack and phone but when she opened the door she froze. She saw bodies lying down on the ground and cars slowly moving forward or speeding across the road, and of course there were some that already crashed into each other.
"What the heck is going on?" She thought.
She went back into her house and went to her parents' room. She tried shaking them but they wouldn't wake up, they didn't even move or groan.
She started to yell "MOM, DAD" but she only got the same "reaction" she decided to call 911 but when she called there was no answer.
"What?"
She realized she had no other choice but to go to the police station. So she left the house again, this time she just had her phone. She started to walk down the sidewalk passing and stepping over the bodies of people, sometimes she checked their pulses to make sure they were just sleeping. More than an hour later she finally reached the police station. But when she walked in, everyone was asleep. There were people asleep and handcuffed in the chairs, a cop asleep at the desk, cops on the floor, and prisoners asleep in the cell. She walked into the office and saw a cop lying on the floor and a boy at the computer on the main desk.
"Hey!"
The boy looked up and started to walk over to her. "You're awake!"
"Yeah, do you know what's going on?"
"I've been trying to but I haven't really been that lucky in finding anything."
"... No luck in waking anyone up?"
"No, I tried my mom, my brother, and three people on the street, nothing."
She sighed. "Well, it looks like we're in this together, I'm Kaline."
"Leo, it's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too. So what were you looking at over there?"
"I was looking through this guys social media and the news. And it's pretty weird, come look at this," They went over to the computer and started to look through his social media. "Only two people have posted since this morning."
"Now that's weird."
"He's friends with over thirty people so there should be a lot more than just two posts. And I've been looking at the pictures they've posted, it says they live in Houston, Texas and Richmond, Virginia."
"They're not in Florida."
"Exactly."
"What about the news?"
"Nothing, nothing at all, looks like the news crew got under this sleeping spell too."
"... It just doesn't make sense, how are we not affected by this?"
"I don't really know."
"Have you found anything else?"
