I woke up staring at the ceiling, squinting at a bright light hanging above me. My head was throbbing badly, making it hard to focus on the grey walls surrounding me. Steadying myself, I looked around to find that I was in a hospital room. No one else was around me, though. To be honest, I wasn't sure where I was exactly. It was like my mind was a blank space, waiting to be filled in. As I regained consciousness, I started to focus in on some sounds around me. I heard someone voice coming from outside the room.
Voice One : "I'm just so worried about her. This whole thing's my fault."
Voice Two : "You can't take it all out on yourself."
Voice One : "But what happens if she doesn't wake up?"
Voice Three : "She's going to, ok? She'll be just fine."
They all seemed to be male's voices. The door burst open, causing me to jump. I brought my hand to my head and is started throbbing again. A woman walked in, closing the door behind her.
Nurse : "I'm sorry, dear. Oh, don't touch that!"
She rushed to my side, pulling my hand from my temple.
Nurse : "Can't reck the stitches."
She smiled softly.
Nurse : "How are you feeling?"
I blinked slowly, avoiding the lights above me.
Y//N : "Not... horrible. Just confused I guess."
She nodded.
Nurse : "That's normal, honey. The pain's bad I'm assuming?"
Y//N : "It's alright. Not good, but alright."
She grabbed a tray of what I guessed to be my dinner and set it on a stand next to my bed.
Nurse : "Have something when you're hungry, it might help."
Y//N : "Thank you."
She started heading towards the door when I stopped her.
Y//N : "E-excuse me?"
She turned around.
Y//N : "What's going on?"
She pouted, her heels clicking as she made her way back to my side.
Nurse : "Let's see, where should we start... Do you know who you are?"
I shook my head. Now that I thought about it, no.
Y//N : "No, I'm sorry."
Nurse : "Don't be sorry, baby. It's common with head injuries like these. Your name's Y//N Y/L/N, and you're 17 years old."
I nodded.
Y//N : "Where are my parents?"
She hesitated.
Nurse : "They've passed away, sweetie. Awhile ago."
Y//N : "Oh..."
I waited a moment, really wishing I could remember who they were.
Y//N : "Do I have any siblings? Any other family?"
She shook her head.
Nurse : "You do have a boyfriend, though. You live with him, and a few of his friends."
Y//N : "Ok, thank you. That helps some."
She smiled weakly, patting my hand before getting up for the door.
Nurse : "He's outside now, should I let him in or would you like to rest?"
Y//N : "You can let him in, please."
She nodded, opening the door and stepping outside. I heard her say a few muffled words, followed by one of the males voices. Just a moment later, the door was opened again; this time revealing a tall, handsome boy with dark hair. He had a cast on one of his feet, and a few stitches on his other leg. He looked very relieved to be seeing me.
? : "Y//N!"
Letting out a sigh, he ran over to me as fast as his crutches would carry him. He tossed them aside and threw his arms around me, whisper thanking the lord for something. I sat very still, confused on who this was. My boyfriend? I feel like I would recognize him. A few other boys filed in behind him. He pulled away for a moment, smiling brightly.
? : "I'm just so happy you're ok!"
He started to lean in, and I backed up to avoid his kissing attempt. His expression fell when he saw my concern.
? : "Y//N? W-what's wrong?"
I didn't say anything; I just sat there with my mouth open slightly trying to find my words.
? : "You hate me, don't you?"
I recognized his voice to be the first male I'd heard outside. He clearly knew me, though, so I tried to whisper in hopes it would be easier to ask.
Y//N : "...Who are you?"
Those three words were the ones that broke his heart; anyone could see it. I watched his eyes glaze over as he tried not to cry.
? : "What? It's me- Jonah? Your boyfriend... I-"
I felt tears come to my eyes. There was just so much going on right now, and I was so confused.
Y//N : "I'm sorry... I just... I don't-"
Nurse : "Based on how I talked to her earlier, it looks like she's lost her memory. Don't take it personal, Jonah, she didn't even know her own name until I told her."
I looked back at the boy in front of me. His hair was messy, and his brown eyes were red; but from lack of sleep or crying I couldn't tell. He was cute, sure, but I had no idea who this was.
