I glanced in the small mirror that hung in the ice cream shop, wiping off the last chunk of ice cream from my shirt. I threw away the towel before turning heading back outside to find Corbyn again. He pulled his car up to the front, and I slid into the passenger seat, making sure to buckle myself in. We drove home, jamming out to some music I'd picked up over the last couple of days. Corbyn had a really nice voice. The way he gets it high enough to match the harmony, but still keeps it soft and angelic, gives me chills. We pulled up to the house, and I stepped outside and headed towards the door.
Corbyn : "You've got something on your back."
I turned myself around the best I could to see a spot of ice cream that had matted itself into my shirt.
Corbyn : "I wonder what thats from?"
I waved my hand at it, finally giving up. He came up behind me, giggling as I turned to face him.
Y//N : "I have no idea."
His eyes moved down to the bottom of my cheek.
Corbyn : "You've got some there, too. Here, let me..."
He placed his hand on my face, gently brushing off the ice cream that had managed to remain on my jawline. His smiled faded, and he looked into my eyes again.
Corbyn : "...There."
My heart was going miles a minute, and I swear it was going to jump from my chest. He moved his hand down to my neck, our faces still very close together. I glanced at his lips, then back into his soft, blue eyes. After a moment, he cleared his throat slightly, shaking his head.
Corbyn : "We should go inside. I'm sure Jonah's worried about how long we've been out."
The anxious feeling in my chest plummeted. Jonah.
How could've I forgotten about him? Forgotten him again? Guilt rose up into my heart, and I nodded and followed Corbyn inside.
Y//N : "Right, right."
As expected, my tall, dark haired boyfriend was waiting for us in the living room. He hugged me tightly when I walked inside.
Jonah : "I'm glad you're home."
I sighed, leaning into him.
Y//N : "Me too."
For the rest of the day, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking of the moment I'd had with Corbyn outside. Was it even a moment? No, it couldn't be. Corbyn told me earlier about a girl he'd met he'd been interested in. So, I must be going crazy.
Jonah : "Y//N?"
I looked up at him quickly, startled from my thoughts.
Jonah : "Are you ok? I called you like, five times."
I nodded.
Y//N : "I'm fine, yeah. I think I'm just a little tired."
Jonah pushed my door open, walking inside much easier now without his crutches.
Jonah : "You has fun today?"
I nodded as he closed the door. He nervously ran a hand through his hair.
Jonah : "Did anything... jog your memory?"
Jonah always looked nervous... guilty... scared. It was a rare occasion I'd catch him without red, puffy eyes; he never got much sleep. I knew he was crying, too. I knew everything about the accident worried him. This boy really loved me. He really cared. Tears cane to my eyes, and I shook my head.
Y//N : "I'm sorry. I'm trying, I really am-"
Jonah : "Don't be sorry. Don't say that, ok? I know you are..."
He wrapped his arms around me, and I leaned into him. He could hold me forever if he wanted to. Something about his embrace made me feel safe, like nothing could ever get to me.
Jonah : "I love you, ok? So we'll get through this together."
