The School
Michael found himself on the second day of school; alone, confused and searching for answers; waiting at the same old and worn gate, he found himself at the day before. Michael found a small half wall with no one near him and sits upon it, pulling out his timetable to see the lessons for the day. First PE, then English, followed by double Science and then Art. Not a bad day.
Michael looked around to see everyone heading into the building; the bell had rung out, and it was time to start the day. Michael headed into the changing rooms in preparation for PE. After putting on his top, shorts and trainers, he headed out onto the field with the other students who were all forming a line.
"Today everyone, we will be playing a friendly tournament of rounders. Four teams, split yourself up and group" The teacher told, and that was precisely what the students did. Michael joined one of the teams and stood with them, looking across at the competition. He saw the students that were following him yesterday! 'They weren't in my lesson yesterday... or were they? ' Michael wondered. He tried to ignore them and enjoy his lesson.
"Right. You're team A, B, C and D. A and B are going over there, C and D there. A and C bat first. When I say, switch. Game on!" After telling this, the students ran over to their designated areas. Michael's team was team A, meaning his team was to bat first. Both of the stalker students were on team B. This could be his chance to talk to them! To find out what was going on with them!
Michael was nearly last to bat, and his team had almost lost all players. Michael was up next. When he stepped up to the batting area, he eyed up his opponents, looked for a gap in the group, readied his bat and--BANG! He hit the ball with such power, it bypassed all of the field players giving him the chance to run past all of the posts. That was enough to attract the attention of the students and get them all talking. But Michael had a feeling deep down. So far down that, he didn't know whether to believe it or not, that something was watching him from a distance. He ignored the feeling and carried on with the game, but always felt something niggling at him.
Soon came the lunch break. Michael was waiting for this moment all day. He could finally find out what the students wanted from him! Now, he just had to find them.
Michael walked all around campus, searching for the students, but never found them. He searched for what felt like hours until he gave up. He couldn't find them. 'Maybe it's all in my head? Maybe they never even existed! ' Michael thought to himself, but he soon heard rustling in a near bush. 'Probably a bird. I need to find out who they are! ' It wasn't long until he began to feel the same feeling of being watched, but he again chose to ignore it.
The final lesson came about. Art. Michael's least favourite lesson. But it was the lesson where he could finally ask the students. He was the boy sitting alone at a table; Michael joined.
"Hi, remember me?" Michael asked, "I've been trying to find you all day! I want to ask you a few questions."
"Umm..." Replied the boy. He went red with embarrassment, "I'm sorry about yesterday. I know you're the new kid, and I just wanted to make a friend. I'll leave you alone for now" The boy walked away after telling Michael this, but Michael followed;
"Don't walk away! Who are you? If you had spoken to me, I might've been interested in being your friend! And while we're at it, who was the girl? Is she your friend too?" Michael questioned calmly, but with concern.
"My name is Oscar. Oscar Yates. I wanted to speak to you. Believe me, I did. And the girl? She'll want to introduce herself. She's dramatic like that."
"Well, Oscar, I'm Michael. That wasn't so hard, was it?"
