"Man starts over again every day, despite all he knows, against all he knows."
― Emil Cioran_._._._._
It was a quiet morning, as rays filtered in my room to scatter themselves around. It was the peace in knowing that the day just began, but it was also the worry in knowing that this was another day in this wrecked world.
There were no sounds of birds chirping or fresh breeze buzzing or the commotion of people outside but it was quiet, deadly quiet. This was life today, in the year 2020, who knew it would be the ultimate year of the disaster.
I got off my bed and lazily dragged myself towards my ensuite washroom. I lived a good life. I have family and money. A good job to fill me with content. But since this adversity began, it all started going downhill. My parents' gut-wrenching death made reality more clear.
Taking a quick shower, I dressed in a black tank top and jeans with my signature black leather jacket. The AI agents had uniform but the secret agents such as myself did not hence my outfit. I walked downstairs towards the kitchen for a quick breakfast before having to leave for work. Sofia wasn't home, probably she left for work early, since the demand for doctors nowadays in high.
I had a peanut butter sandwich with a banana as I headed out towards my car driving off to start my day.

"Good morning agent Valdez." Mr. Harrington wished me as I entered the elevator, with a nod towards him the doors shut taking me to the 8th floor of AI tower. With a' ting' the door of the elevator opened up as I walked off towards the PA of Commander Davis.
"Hello Mr. Smith, I assume Commander Davis wanted to meet me, when will it be?" I stared at the scrawny little guy who had the feminine built that sometimes I thought he was certainly a female. "Why don't you go in now Agent Valdez, He's free."
I just nodded and took off towards the Commander's office. I was suspicious of why he wanted to talk and nowadays he even seemed to be hiding something and overall giving that dubious look. Wonder what is going on with him.
The AI has been busy with the recent virus outbreak disasters, some people weren't calm and went out to set the settlements on fire and riots among people, It was literal hell out there but sadly it is not something humans could do something about which is why we will have to wait and see how the president would like to take the precautions further.
I was initially mad that the government wasn't doing enough, I would certainly have such thoughts as I lost both my parents to this calamity, but I knew that everyone was trying their level best to save the people, It was not something that could be blamed at anyone. I knocked on the door as I entered into his office walked my way over to his desk.
"Miss Valdez, have a seat, I've been meaning to talk to you about this but couldn't get a chance." Commander Davis wasn't an evil person who liked tormenting his agents rather we got along well, so well that we shared almost everything.
"Yes, sir!" I waited for him to continue as he looked troubled to speak as he searched for words, he wasn't like this, I'm pretty sure this was something serious.
"Sierra.." He used my first name. What he wants to say is bad.
"..It has to do with the virus, My wife was Positive, It means I'll have to go through a check-up as well and I can't be sure whether I'll be fine, it just is a gut feeling."
Holy Shit knew it was bad. He stopped to control his emotions as he continued.
"There is something I've been having my doubt on, It just doesn't settle well with me how such a worldwide catastrophe is not being taken seriously by the president."
