It feels like everyone has something special about them these days. There are billionaires building weaponized suits, gods that can summon thunder, and a guy who turns green when he's mad. There are actual superheroes walking among us every day. I feel like every day a new person discovers they have powers or whatever.
But not me.
I'm as normal as they come. I don't have any powers (unless binging two seasons of Vampire Diaries in one night is considered a superpower), I'm not super smart or anything... I'm just kind of there.
I don't even have a tragic backstory or anything. My parents are happily married, my sister is off at college, and my rat of a dog is 15 years old and still acts like a puppy.
The most interesting part about me is the fact that my parents are letting me live alone in a tiny apartment in Queens so I can go to a school dedicated to science and technology (Midtown School of Science and Technology). It's technically under their name, but I can live there on my own as long as they check in on me every once in a while.
Other than that, I'm ordinary.
But my life was about to get a whole lot more extraordinary.
