Slyna's POV

I think i can trust Miri. It's been a little while she'd hang round with me, while others would shun away. Mom had sent me away from something. It was quite obvious the way she would not look at me in the eye. Dad was somewhere.

Flashback
"Come on, Syre, its time to go." Mom says, tears creating wavy lengths down her weathered face. "Slyna is your new name, keep it and forget your past." Wait, I'm leaving mom? No!
"No!" I screamed, and this made her cry even more. "Take her away," she ordered the birds, gigantic ones by the fact, and brought me away. Not before I think i saw her stabbed to death. By a human. I cried and cried and cried i think, and I tried to drown myself in tears and misery and sorrow. "It's okay you are safe," headmaster Crumpet says, startling me. "Hey! Wanna go for lunch?" I heard Miri call out from on top. I panicked and looked up and she almost collapsed on me. She was hanging from the rafters, her Phoenix/Eagle wings wrapping around her like a cocoon, the way bats hang upside down. It looks like everything was meant to be at the ceiling, like the ceiling became the floor and the floor became the ceiling. She opened her wings-they were sparkling fire-and did a graceful somersault and landed on her feet. "Hi...?" I say, awkward. "Hey, can I read your past?" "Can i trust you?" She became solemn, and said yes you can trust me. I told her about my seriously mangled past. "Now's your turn," i say, slugging her in the arm playfully. "It's only fair," she nods. "Get ready for the nut tale that is my life."
