When we get to Emma's place, I put a ten minute moisturizing mask on her face and send her to sit down whilst I take out my tools. As I'm selecting the best bronzing pearls for her contouring, Emma thrusts her phone in my face. There's Kendall Jenner on the screen.

"Uhm yes, that's Kendall. Why are you showing me her picture?" I ask because she's looking as if the answers of the universe are held in that one, single picture.

"I want you to make me look like her," Emma says.

I fight the urge to face palm myself. Ever since I'd done of those Steal-A-Celebrity's-Face make up videos where I'd transformed my face first to Kendall, then Beyonce, then Kanye West and finally Drake, Emma has been hounding me to do it on her.

My friend did not get the phrase 'purely for entertainment purposes '. So I take a deep breath and call on all the patience deities.

"Baby, her make up is nice but I'm not going to make you into a whole new person. You're beautiful and all we have to do is highlight that."

"But-"

"No buts. Your super secret date already knows what you look like. Are you going to freak him out by showing up with a Kardashian face?"

"Fine. I hate it when you're the reasonable one," she pouts.

"Bitch I know. Now go wash your face and let Kam work his magic on you."

I've decided not to wash Emma's hair since we won't have enough time.

"Where did you meet this guy, again?" I ask whilst she's in the bathroom.

"If I tell you, it won't be a secret anymore."

"If you don't tell me then I'll start thinking you're shagging Tandlich," I name one of our teachers.

"Ew. Maybe it's Dominic," she calls out mischievously.

Normally I'd have fallen for that. But I know right now she's just trying to distract me.

"Sorry boo but you don't possess the equipment my daddy wants."

"I can wear a strap on," she says coming back into the room.

I laugh at that.

"You're ridiculous, baby girl. Now stop distracting me. Tell me about your super secret man."

"I can't, Kam. I really can't."

I pout because I hate being thwarted but I decide to respect her privacy. For now.

I begin priming her face and as I'm doing that, Emma's dad comes back from work.

"What are you two little weasels up to again?" He asks.

Emma's dad is the most chilled parent I've ever met. He's so loving and always treats her well. For such a macho man, my femininity doesn't bother him. He buys me presents for all my birthdays and when I'd whined last year because I didn't have a boyfriend at Valentine's, he'd brought me flowers to school.

"I'm turning your daughter into a stripper," I tell him, wiggling my eyebrows.

He snorts.

"That's your loss then, she can't dance for shit."

"Dad! Get out of my room," Emma complains, throwing a cushion at him.

"Hey, treat my main man well or I'll leave you looking like a Halloween mask," I tell her.

"Main? I thought I was the only one?"

"Yes, but you no longer buy me chocolates. I had to replace you, Arthur dear," I say, dabbing foundation on Emma with my fingers.
