Whilst sat at Pops, I feel an emptiness where there was once a rosey smile looking back at my gaze. An innocent smile, full of optimism and dedication... Gone. Betty was a victim. There were always kind intentions, even behind her radical behaviour and wrongdoing. She never fully understood the consequences.
A cherry red seat is all that's opposite me now. The chatter of discussions going on alongside the other end of the café, is all that's keeping me company. -"Hey! Jughead!" A voice greets me happily as he rests his hand on my shoulder.
"Archie." I reply rasing my eyebrows to show as much expression as I am able to."I have some great news..."
"What is it?" I ask eagerly.
"I proposed to Veronica!" He whispers ecstatically.
"And she said yes?!" I playfully ask as we both laugh.
"I know, I'm surprised too."
Archie says looking baffled. He's always doubted himself. Everytime he does something good, he just carries on. No looking back, no rest... He's always had soo much to handle. I know how hard it can be to accept something positive when the life you've had has been anything but positive. In this case though, it's amazing news for him. I think he should celebrate his successes more...
"That's amazing news!" I exclaim proudly. I couldn't help but smile that my non related brother was going to get married to the love of his life. I just wish I could relate to that.
"I'm soo sorry to hear about Betty." He almost chocked on his own words as his voice started to crack.
"I still can't believe it." I whispered to him as tears ran down my cheeks.I wasn't going to sleep, double down or rest until I found the killer. I explained this to Archie as he agreed that it's best if we look for the killer amoungst ourselves. That ment leaving the law out of it and taking matters into our own hands. Yes. The police did investigate her house, however there was soo much that didn't make sense. There were no bloodstains left on the gun that rested next to the body. But there was blood on the floor from the wound in her chest. The autopsy report said that the injury was a stab wound rather than a gun shot. Clearly, whoever killed her tried to make it look like a suicide... And didn't shoot her.
Also the fingerprints found on the weapon weren't hers...
Why would somebody do this to her. Who's result of a cruel and evil vendetta was this?
I know that if this case was about somebody else and Betty was still here; that she'd not stop until she found out about the truth. I'm going to find the answers, Betty.Archie's POV:
As soon as I open the door, I jog upstairs, slamming my bedroom door loudly before slumping my back onto my bed. With my phone left on the side, placed next to the dim - lit lamp... It vibrates with the noise being amplified by the phone hitting the surface whilst moving frantically. I pick it up to notice that Veronica was calling me:
"Hey. Is everything okay?" I question her whilst feeling a not in my stomach.
"Yeah, everything's good... I was just wondering where you were earlier. You didn't answer any of my calls and I got worried."
"Ve I'm soo sorry, I met Jughead in pops. I was just checking up on him to see if he was okay you know with -"
"With what happened to Betty I know. It's tough on everyone right now, I'm still in shock." Veronica replies with distraught."Because we want answers for Betty, me and Jughead were thinking about investigating amongst ourselves."
I explain.
"What!? No! Archie are you serious?"
She laughs in disbelief. I honestly don't know what to say, I thought that she'd support me for this... For Betty's justice.
"Archie, listen to me. You cannot get involved with anymore of this. I know it's hard and we all want closure. Trust me, I loved Betty with all of my heart. However, I can't have you running round eggshells when it comes to the law over and over again. You've gotten into soo much trouble that one day you're going to end up pushing your luck. I can't have that. I love you too much to let that happen. So Archie please -"
She expresses compassionately before being cut off. I couldn't help it. It was something that I would say without thinking about the consequences:"Why? Because you're dad might have something to do with it!?" I blurt out fustratedly.
"Archie. I know that my dad is no saint, but if you think he would go as far as to murder my best friend, then you've got my dad all wrong and I don't want my last name changed to yours if all you see him as is a killer." Veronica threatens with a cold tone.
"That's true, he wouldn't want to get his hands dirty, so he gets someone to do the work for him." I was at the point where I felt like screaming and yelling down the line.
"Good luck with the investigation." Ve said passive aggressively before abruptly ending the call.
