Keefe POV:

I heaved a frustrated sigh as I crumpled up yet another piece of paper and tossed it across my room. It landed right near the door just as Ro walked in.

"You missed" Ro said, smirking. I ignored her and went back to the new blank piece of paper in the sketchbook. When she saw I had no reaction, she frowned. I was so focused on trying again, I didn't realize that Ro had grabbed the crumpled paper from the floor and was now uncrumpling it. I looked up a little too late.

'DON'T OPEN IT" I yelled. Then I threw my sketchbook and pencil to the bed and lunged forward to grab the paper from Ro. She was too quick and dodged me. I fell on the floor instead. I wasn't hurt but I could feel my face heating up as she examined what I had drawn.

"Sophie? Why are you trying to draw Sophie?" Ro asked, turning her head slowly to face me. Her smirk was even wider now.

"Um- It's just... a gift for Sophie. You know- because, uh she's my friend" I stammered.

"Mhmmm..." Ro said, eying me suspiciously. I cleared my throat.

"I've gotta go," I said, backing out of the room, wanting to be anywhere but there. I bumped into the wall and I turned to find the door. I opened it and tried to look casual as I walked out. That was when I felt a slight buzz in my pocket. I took out my imparter to see that it was Sophie. Oh shit. I thought. I touched my cheeks to make sure they weren't hot and then picked up.

I put on my usual smirk as I saw Sophie's face come on.

"Hey Fos-" I started, but my smirk faded and I stopped as I saw Sophie's tear-stained cheeks. "Hey, what happened? I'll be then in a minute" I said as I saw her crying. She nodded and I put my imparter away and light leaped to Havenfield. Unfortunately, Ro got to me and grabbed my arm before I could ditch her.

"Where do you think you're going without me?" She asked accusingly.

"None of your business," I snapped at her as I struggled to get to Sophie

"You're my charge, so it is my business." She replied glaring at me.

"Please Ro, if you let me go, I'll do anything." I pleaded without thinking. She thought for a second and let my arm go. I didn't even thank her as I stepped into the light. When I got to Havenfield I went and knocked on the door. Edaline came to the door. She looked like she hadn't slept in a while and had dark circles under her eyes, but she smiled.

"Sophie's in her room, I tried cheering her up or at least getting her to tell me what happened, but it didn't work. Maybe she'll tell you more." I thanked her and walked up to her room. When I walked into her room, I saw her crying on the corner of her bed, her head in her arms. I walked over to her and put my hand on her shoulder. I felt a huge wave of a feeling I could only describe as heartbreak and sadness. It pained me to see her this upset. She looked up at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked her softly. I could see that she was trying hard not to let the tears that were now forming fall.
