Chapter 7

Sophie's POV:
The rest of the day flies by fairly quickly, but I'm dreading talking to my parents about the date. I'm not necessarily nervous about Edaline, but I think Grady might nail the doors and windows closed.

Slowly I pull my home crystal out and hold it up to the light. Sandor grabs my hand and we leap home. When I get home both my parents are in the Kitchen. It looks like Edaline just made Mallowmelts and Grady is eating them.
"Oh hi honey, You want some Mallowmelts?" Edaline asks? The circles under her eyes stand out prominently, but her smile makes her eyes shine.

"Um sure I say, I have something to ask you guys." Edaline snaps her fingers and a plate appears and she shovels 5 Mallowmelts on it and slides it over to me. I sit down hesitantly.
"So what do you want to ask us?" Grady asks suspiciously.

"Ummm.... I was wondering If I could, ummm go on a date with Keefe tonight."
Grady drops his Mallowmelt mid-bite, then he explodes. "No way are you going out with THAT BOY!"

"Grady-" Edaline tries.

"The other day he had his hands all over you!"

"Please-" I start but Edaline cuts me off.

"Grady, she is 15 now, she is allowed to date." Her voice is firm.

Grady eyes his wife suspiciously."Fine but Sandor is going with you."

"No" I say angrily, "You know you can trust me not to do anything stupid, and I want to spend time alone with Keefe."

"He glares at me,"No"

"Please dad! You know he would never do anything I didn't want to do and he will protect me."

Grady is rigid but when he glances at Edaline he relaxes a little bit as an unspoken agreement comes to light. Edaline speaks,"You may go for an hour, but you must tell us your location and have your imparter on you at ALL times, as well as your necklace on."

"I will, I promise. To all of that! Thank you so much!" I plant a kiss on Grady's cheek, I hug Edaline and give Sandor a triumphant smile as I eat my Mallowmelt and run upstairs to get changed.

I take a nice long steamy shower and when I get out I realize I don't know what to wear I pull on some regular clothes, but they don't seem appropriate for a date. I'm about to call Edaline when I hear a knock at my door and Edaline pokes her head in.

"You need help finding an outfit?" It's not a question more like a statement, like she sensed I needed help.

"Yes please."

She smiles and pulls open my walk in closet. The first outfit she picks out looks ugly on me, it's a red tunic that is tied at the waist with flowers embroidered on the sleeves with a black skirt that reaches my knees. The next outfit is a little better: a white top that stops at my waist, it has plain cream colored sleeves and it is paired with red pants that have lace coming off from the pant legs.

I shake my head, "Can't I just wear day clothes?"

"No-" Edaline gasps and runs out of my room.

"Where are you going?" I'm confused.

A minute later she runs back holding something in her hands. She holds it up, "Once I was watching a human movie with my sister and I got inspired to make this, do you like it?"
It's a beautiful shirt. It's a blue gray halter top with lace blue ties. On the front are assorted gems, they're not big enough to make it look busy but not small enough to go unseen. The middle of the top is made of the same blue gray lace so it is see through. I smile, "Wow that's beautiful!"

"I'm glad you like it" says Edaline eagerly, "Try it on!" I walk into my bathroom and carefully pull the shirt on. It's slightly small but if I tie the lace loosely it fits fine. I walk out of the bathroom. "It looks amazing on you" Exclaims Edaline. Are you sure I can wear it?" I ask. "Of course" I made it too small for me, so it's yours. "Thank you so much." She nods and pulls out a pair of black pants. They are the same as the red ones before with the lace, but this color is much prettier. I walk into the bathroom and pull it on.
