The Life of a Diver

Silver bubbles dribble from my lips to join lost friends on the surface

I move gently side to side over the runic and beautiful unexplored world beneath me

Dappled sunlight streams down to shine on the brightly colored coral

From the place I come from and must return to after

Decorated fish swim past and scatter in my wake

So much to see in this mysterious world

I go deeper, past the wrinkled rocks and the dark fluttering seeweed

Deep blueness stretches into the distance

Crabs scuttle around on the sea floor

My tank, nearly empty

My time down here is out and is more desire than ever

I push off the bottom to return to the surface that I know so well
