Breaking Tradition

It is the late 1800s

A little girl spends all day learning about womanly chores

She is taught how to sew, how to do the laundry

Finally the day is over

She can be herself

Out comes the books, her dreams

Books of science, art, math

Books of aviation, of earning PHDs, Doctorates

Articals that show women standing up for what they believe

Collumns that say that women will soon have the right to vote

She is what is needed in our world

Her motto "A woman that follows tradition will never make history"

She dreams about being written about in one of these books

Her picture next to Susan B. Anthony, Margaret Tobin Brown

She just waits until the day when she can shine

This girl has the determination that can take her far

She is going to what is right

She is going to break tradition
