Everything in derry never really changed. It was always too cold. Much like the people in it. There was the same shops, and schools as if it was stuck in time. The men there still worked day and night, the women still gossip about pointless things. The kids never truly growing up. The Bowers gang was always chasing the losers club relentlessly. The losers club always sat, and talked around the same park. The teachers always grumbling about their low pay checks.
In short, derry was boring, uneventful, and bland. Nothing happened, and everything was so automated. Yet, something happened. One day, everyone felt a strange tingle in their hearts, almost an indicator of impossible change. some maybe predicted a storm, or an outbreak of measles. But no, nothing happened. It perplexed the people of derry, or at least the few who felt it.
Suddenly, it did change. Something happened. Or more someone happened. Completely unintentional in fact. They weren't famous, or very noticeable. They weren't really anything special more than just a new person. A new girl. The new girl. An she still vividly remembers the odd stares, and the absence amounts of bickering, and whispering. She knew she was odd, but we're they really as biased as to gossip?
But, no. The people who gossip were more or was interested than anything. And that girl, no matter how much she wanted do deny it. Was something special. And yet, here she is standing on the steps of a new imprisonment, and new hellish torture. she was standing awkwardly at the foot steps of her new school.
Sighing, she gripped onto her back packs black leather straps and trudged forward slowly, an inevitable out of uneasiness, pooling into her stomach. Suddenly, she felt a hard slap to her shoulder, and her legs gave out, she landed on the ground harshly. Looking up as she scolded to see a group of rowdy boys hooting and hollering, ignoring her existence completely.
She sighed, pushing her glasses up, and walking to the office. After a very awkward meeting with a grouchy office lady, she made her way to her locker '257' She repeated in her head, sighing in gratitude as she made her way to the locker, suddenly the locker next to her burst open, smacking her in the face.
And for the second time this morning, she landed on her bottom, and clutched her nose, holding it as the metallic crimson liquid she grew to hate spilled out. She flared at the locker, and suddenly a girl with long curly red hair appeared out, her face in shock, and she ran up to her grabbing her cheeks, and repeatedly blabbering.
"Oh shit! I am so, so sorry! I didn't mean to I-" She sighed, intertwining the shorter girls arm with hers, dragging her to God knows where. Much to the others protest. Opening the door to the girls bathroom, she pushed the girl inside grabbing paper towels, and setting them, wading them together, and pressing them in the grouchy girls face.
She smiled down at her, holding he hand out, and chuckling. "Hi! I'm beverly! Sorry about y'know. . . ." She laughed awkwardly holding the back of her neck as the shorter girl didn't shake her hand. She sighed, mumbling an apology as well, and looked at her. Wow, she didn't realize how utterly stunning the girl actually was.
Clearing her throat She looked up at her a half smile one her face. "Its fine. Doesn't hurt that bad." She waved her hands in front of her face. Staring at Beverly who looked at her expectantly. She laughed realizing it. " Oh! Hah. . . My names andy! Sorry for being so rude. " She smiled at her, and Beverly nodded, shaking hands with her.
"Nice to meet you andy! and I probably should be the one saying sorry not you." She mumbled the last part, both of them staring awkwardly before laughing again. " looks like I got a new friend. " She smiled at her, and before andy could protest Beverly shushed her grabbing her back pack, and walking to first period with her, which they conveniently had, and unfortunately were very late to.
As they walked into the class neither of them were surprised for the scolding. Even though she was new, she was lectured along with the firey girl next to her awkward frame. She sighed looking at the class expectantly. She cleared her throat speaking up. "H-Hi! I'm andy newberry. And I moved her from San fransisco! Uh, I'm happy to be here I guess. . . "
Beverly smiled to herself sitting at her usual table as andy introduced herself, a dreamy look in her green eyes as she met Andy's dark blue ones. She smiled at her softly as Beverly waved at her, much to the teachers disapproval. She mumbled lowly, focusing on the girls beautiful eyes. "Looks like the new girl has got a new friend." She smiled as she walked over sitting down next to beverly. Yet Beverly found her heart not being able to calm down as Andy brushed her hand against hers.
'What are you doing to me new girl?'
