Ryan and Brendon were getting ready to go back to the room as the day started coming to an end. They had a pretty relaxing day. They talked a lot, shared stories. Brendon sang a little. It was really nice.
"I thought I'd find you here." Ryan frowned as the two boys turned to see Kenny standing in the doorway.
"Oh great. You're here," Ryan sighed sarcastically. "What do you want?" Kenny shrugged and took a few steps into the room.
"Just here to cash in my rain check with Klaus is all." He grinned innocently at Brendon. The boy had to fight back a grimace. "So if you wanna finish up in here then we can get going."
"Going where?" Brendon asked. He tried not to sound as nervous as he felt.
"You'll see." The grin shifted into a smirk. "I'll wait for you in the hall."
"You alright?" Ryan placed a gentle hand on Brendon's shoulder. Brendon took a deep breath and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine. We knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. It's good to just get it over with," he finished with a shrug. "I'll see you back in the room, yeah?" Ryan nodded quickly.
"Of course." With another nod, Brendon walked out into the hallway where Kenny was waiting for him.
"So what are we going to do?" Kenny started leading them down the hall.
"Not much. Just gonna go through some paperwork."
"Paperwork for what?" Kenny threw a devilish grin over his shoulder.
"You'll see." They continued through the building in silence. Kenny finally stopped at a door. They were in a part of the building that Dave never took him to before. "Here we are."
Brendon looked confused as they went in. There were filing cabinets along one wall, computers along the other and three tables down the center of the room.
"What's this?" Brendon looked around the room with his brows furrowed and his mouth in a slight frown.
"This," Kenny started as he walked over to a cabinet and pulled open a drawer. "Are records of every reported homosexual act, intention and person in the country." Brendon's eyes scanned the files wedged into the drawer. His gaze moved over the other cabinets that were most likely filled with other reports.
"This one is all the reports from the town we picked you up in." Kenny pulled out a worn file that was too thick for the folder. Brendon's heart was pounding in his chest. The two walked over to a table and Kenny started sorting through the papers.
"We have separate section. These are the people who we still need to visit," he said as he made a stack. Brendon focused on Kenny's movements. He didn't want to let himself remember his own visit. "Those who we have in the building." He squeezed his eyes shut at the thought of people being held captive here. "And those who have been taken care of."
Brendon swallowed the lump in his throat as he opened his eyes and saw the three stacks Kenny created. He was relieved to see the stack of those "taken care of" was the smallest. He noticed in the folder extra papers.
"What are those?" Kenny still had on his wicked grin and he pull the papers in front of Brendon. Brendon read the title and forced down a shiver wanting to crawl down his spin.
Wanted: Find and Kill
He skimmed over through the list of names. His stomach clenched when he spotted a few familiar one. He was ready to puke when his eyes landed on one name.
Brendon Boyd Urie.
"They are the ones who managed to get away from us." He let out a shaky breath. "Recognize any names?"
