One Long Morning..!

It was bright and shiny morning in Foxhaven. The streets were empty, except a few people getting ready for work. It was the first day back to school since the summer, and Kimberlee was in her bed sleeping away. Her long brown hair cascaded around her face, her mouth wide open, and she was snoring away. Everything seemed peaceful until there was a sudden knock on the door.

"Knock.
Knock.
Knock.

"Mmmhhhmm...more chocolate pie please..," mumbled Kim. She tossed to the left and mumbled some more. The knock on the door got louder, and there was a shout.

BAM!!
BAM!!
BAM!!

"Hey Kim, you better get up before there's no breakfast left for you!!" It was Alex, Kimberlee's younger brother that was knocking on her door. He sighed really loud and he seemed a bit irritated.

"Man, forget this,"Alex says as he opens the door to Kim's room. Inside, he walks up to her bed and snatches the blanket off of her.

"WAKE UP!!"

"AAAAHHHH!!!"

Alex laughed and ran out of the room. Kimberlee groaned loudly. She really didn't want to get up, but she also didn't want her dad to come and get her up. She gulped at the thought of her dad yelling at her. She slowly sat up in her bed. She could smell the scent of bacon and eggs, and it made her stomach growl.

She slid out of her bed slowly and she made her way to the kitchen. As she walked down the hall towards the kitchen, she saw her family sitting at the table. Alex and her younger sister Meghan eating breakfast. Alex was hurriedly cramming food into his mouth while talking to his dad. Her dad gave Kim a glare, and Kim gulped. She knew she was in for a scolding or a smart remark.

"So the dead has finally risen. Were you planning on sleeping the whole morning?"

"Good morning to you too dad."

Meghan chuckled and Alex smirked. Kim sighed and sat down. She took her spoon and started to eat breakfast. She took a bite of grits, and she melted at the salty taste. She loved the way her dad made breakfast. It was something she looked forward to every morning, but his scolding was something to avoid.

The table was lively, with Alex talking loudly to his dad and his dad responding with sarcastic remarks. Meghan was quiet as usual, she is always keeps to herself. She looked at Kim and gave an unresponsive look. It's always hard to tell what she's thinking. Kimberlee kept eating, and finished her plate. As she was taking it to the sink, she could hear her dad and Alex arguing about something. That happened a lot with those two. Kimberlee laughed a bit, and went back to the table.

"So, you kids thinking about joining any clubs?"

"Uhhhh...I'm not really sure."

As she said that, she diverted her eyes, Kimberlee was never really good at sports as she wasn't very fast or athletic like Alex and Meghan. She sorta envied her siblings because of how easy it was for them to use their powers without struggling. Kim had a gut feeling that her dad's question was directed specifically at her. She wanted to do something, and try her hardest at it. It's all she's really good it.

"Not sure? You need to be sure, Kim. I want you to be more active in school."

"Yeah, I know."

"Only you can realize your potential, nobody else can."

"But I'm not good at using my water powers. They don't work they way I want them to."

"Well Kimberlee, all I can tell you is to keep trying, you're bound to figure something out."

Kim sighed. Her dad always told her roundabout advice like that and she never liked that. She wanted clear answers as to why she's not as strong as her siblings.

Before she could say anything else, Alex spoke up and talked about joining the Lightning Majors and art club and Meghan mentioned something about culinary. Their dad stood up and gathered the rest of the dishes.

"Well, y'all better be getting ready for school."

"Boooo, can I skip school dad?"

"No, you're not gonna sit around here all day."

"Aww c'mon dad, school ain't shit."

Alex's dad gave him a glare and Alex knew what that meant. He sighed and got up from the table. Meghan and Kimberlee followed suit. Kimberlee went to her room and turned on the lights. She sighed heavily because she was kinda nervous about her first day. She didn't know what she should wear. Something casual or cool? She wanted to make a first impression, but she wasn't sure. She wanted to make her first day perfect.

She didn't have much time before they needed to walk to the bus stop.

"What should I wear?" Kimberlee sighed. She opened her dressers and picked out a blue shirt with floral pattern. She then picked out some more clothes and laid them on the bed. She needed to take a shower as well. *sigh* So much to do.

She could hear the shower running and Alex's loud voice through her walls. He was always being loud in the morning times, and it's quite annoying.

After Alex and Meghan took their showers, they gathered their things and headed towards the door. Alex turned around and frowned.

"C'mon Kim, it's almost 8:00! Let's GOOO!"

Kimberlee was startled by her brother's yelling. She really needed to hurry and pick out her clothes. She really should have done that last night, but she was too busy watching anime.

"Uhhhh..I'll just wear this and this here!" She said as she hurried to gather an anime shirt and some blue jeans, and ran to the bathroom to shower. Alex rolled his eyes. Time passed and as Kimberlee got out the shower, she quickly gathered her things for school and was headed towards the door, when Alex laughed.

"How are you gonna go to school with no shoes?"

Kimberlee looked confused, then she looked down and saw that she had no shoes on.

"Awww...shit."

This day was going great already.
