Geralt has been in the large castle with his friend Jaskier for a week now and he was still no closer to breaking the spell that the mage had put on him. But he did find out that the more time that he spends with his dear friend the more that he slowly changes back into a person, however when they get farther away from each other he becomes more like a beast. Geralt had once tried to write down what he has been wanting to say to Jaskier since they had fought on that mountain after the Dragon hunt and let him know that it's him, that he is now under a mage's curse but his hands weren't even able to hold any of the many quills properly. During this time he had heard things about himself from his dear friend that he didn't even know about from his friend and he had learned things about his friend as well. Geralt wondered why he had never even noticed these things about his friend before he had been cursed, such as how Jaskier would softly call his name when he's nervous, how he would often use his index finger to trace the drawings of maps, and how when he wakes up he stretches his legs out first instead of his arms.

He also couldn't believe that the same man that had sang songs he had wrote himself for coin as a humble Bard was soon going to be ruling an entire kingdom as the king.

Geralt then wondered if that will mean that Jaskier will have to marry a princess or if the laws of this kingdom allow it a prince in order to become a king and rule.

He did not know exactly how the royal politics in this kingdom worked but he could not imagine his old friend being forced to marry someone that he doesn't even know that well.

That's when Geralt suddenly smelled something very foul in the cool air that made every single one of his Witcher instincts scream at him to act.

Poison.

Which could mean that someone is trying to hurt Jaskier and Geralt may not be able to do anything.

Before it's too late for his friend.

Jaskier and a few of his men were investigating one of the many old camping sites from the dragon hunt, which made him feel like in a way he was re-experiencing everything that happened up here.

Thankfully he had already told his men before they got up the mountain that if they encounter any Dragons to leave them alone and keep their distance.

Jaskier wondered if his men would find the green Dragon or the other camps.

Then one of his men shouted that he had found something in a small opening in the rock face of the mountain and then they all rushed over to see what it was.

Jaskier felt dread when he saw what had been found, they were Geralt's clothes, armor, and his potion belt. But they were almost completely torn to shreds as if some kind of beast had attacked him, but why were they safely tucked away out of sight? Jaskier didn't want to believe it but there was no other reasonable explanation that he or any of his men could think of for what had been found on the mountain by his men.

That night he cried for an hour.

Geralt was gone.

The worst part was that their last interaction with eachother was them fighting.

Jaskier wished that he had forgiven Geralt and that he had never left the mountain without him. Maybe if he did his best friend would still be here to hear the songs he had written for him. The next morning he gathered up all of Geralt's belongings and Jaskier went home with a heavy heart. When they reached the castle he took all of his friend's things to his room and looked through them to make sure that he had everything there. Jaskier couldn't help but replay the 22 years that he had spent traveling with Geralt. He soon find himself once again starting to cry and Gargar seemed to know that he was in need of comfort, which he then provided for him.
