colby sighed and kicked a loose stone on the ground, sitting down on the kerb. he'd just come out to sam, his best friend, and he'd understood and been accepting, thankfully. the bad thing was, colby had feelings for sam, but had absolutely no clue how to tell him, and he didn't want to ruin the two's friendship.
"what the fuck am i gonna do?" he groaned, resting his chin on his knees.
"colbs, you forgot your jacket," sam had been following him the whole time, a street behind.
"oh, thanks," he smiled sadly and taking the jacket sam passed to him. he loved it when sam called him that.
"you ok?" the blonde asked, sitting down besides the brunette.
"mhm," he hummed, looking at his feet.
"you're not ok. you can talk to me, colbs," sam sighed, crossing his legs and resting his hands on his knees.
"i just.. i don't know if i can tell you," colby started, shaking his head softly.
"you can tell me anything, whatever it is, i'm not gonna make fun of you or anything," he said sadly, upset that his best friend wouldn't tell him what was bothering him.
"it's not that you'll make fun of me, it's that you'll.. you'll leave me," colby started to tear up again, as he had done at sam's.
"i won't leave you, i promise," sam shook his head.
"promise?" colby looked over at him.
"promise," sam smiled softly, wiping away a stray tear that fell from colby's eye. colby smiled and sniffled, wiping both of his eyes.
"so, you know now that i like boys, a-and there's this specific boy i like, and it's you," colby whispered the very last part, sam still hearing it.
"come here," sam stood up. colby followed with furrowed eyebrows.
"wha-" the brunette was cut off by sam smashing his lips against his. colby pulled away after a second of kissing back.
"so, do you feel the same, or?" he said confusedly.
"yes, you idiot," sam laughed, pulling him into a hug. colby was in a pure state of shock and bliss. "but we need to talk about everything," sam continued, colby nodding as the two headed back to the brunettes.

( a week later )

"mom.." colby started, approaching the woman with sam a step behind him, smiling.
"yes dear? hello," she turned around, saying hello to sam, who nodded with a grin.
"so, i, we, need to tell you something," colby continued, sam discreetly squeezing his hand softly. his mom nodded.
"we're dating," colby grinned nervously, sam rubbing gentle circles into the back of colby's hand.
"that's great! i'm glad you're happy, both of you," she smiled, turning back around to what she was doing. both of them were smiling widely, going upstairs to colby's room.
"that went so much better than i expected," colby grinned, closing his bedroom door behind the blonde.
"at least it went well," sam giggled, throwing his arms around the taller.
"i know," colby chuckled, sitting down on the bed with the smaller on top of him.
"i love you," sam grinned, going down to kiss the taller, practically laying down on him.
"i love you too," colby chuckled, pecking sam's lips softly before pressing his lips firmly against the blonde's.
