Parker
I was sitting peacefully in the helicopter when Bryce, Batman's son and the third leader of Young Justice, just had to say something about how "recklessly" I fought off the meta.
"Parker you need to think before you act, your team could've died back there while you just showed off."
I rolled my eyes as I always do and turned to look at him.
"Bryce, if you have an issue how I actually do something on missions then you can go ahead and try to do the mission yourself next time."
"You know just as well as I do that I can't do that. I don't need your sarcasm right now."
"Funny, I don't need your criticism right now."
Before Bryce could counter with some kind of rude remark, the helicopter landed on the roof of Base and people began leaving.
"All I'm saying Parker is that you put a little more thought into the safety of your team and not just how to make you look good."
I ignored him and walked on to the door, holding it open for the whole team. We all walked into an eruption of applause. Everyone smiled and gladly thanked the team, but I searched the crowd of people for Hayley, who I saw on the other side of the room talking to Kitty who was actively fixing one of the computers.
"Hayley, can I talk to you?"
I said when I approached her. She and Kitty gave each other some kind of look and Hayley turned to me.
"Yes, sir?"
She asked in a mocking voice.
"Alone?"
I said, ignoring the sly smile Kitty gave her.
Hayley walked over with me and I said, casually, "I just wanted to congratulate you on your efficiency in today's mission. You handled the situation well."
She gave me a confused glance and straightened her royal blue uniform.
"What situation? I literally said two things to you."
I laughed off the embarrassment she put on me and tried to make my tone sound normal.
"Well, it was a lot of pressure with the com signal cutting out. Good job anyway. Oh yeah, are you busy tonight? I'm throwing a small party in my room for today's success."
"Sorry Park, let me do a raincheck tonight because I actually have plans with Di tonight."
She didn't look very sad about it at all, but she did look very bored with our conversation so I decided to let her get back with Kitty.
"Yeah, it's totally cool. See you later Hayls."
"Later Parker."
She said walking over and kissing Jake. I walked away to my station and got back to my long list of things to do before my made-up party.Hayley
"What did Kent have to tell you?"
Jake asked after he pulled me into a kiss. People were starting to leave Mission Bay after tonight's success. I looked at him, annoyingly. "Oh my gosh Jake, he was just congratulating me on how I handled the situation tonight." Don't get me wrong, I love Jake and his dark curls, but it can get quite annoying when he is constantly worried that I see Parker as more than a friend. But it's not like Parker is just a friend. I have known him since I was as little as I can rememeber and we have always been best friends. When I first began dating Jake, though, Parker got really angry that he wasn't right for me. But, then again, that's because Parker and Jake have always hated each other for some reason I will never understand. Parker is like the big brother I never had, he looks out for me. And I appreciate that, I really do, but sometimes he does it a little too much. "I don't know. Can we go to my room? I'm tired but I want to talk." Jake asked with a longing look in his eyes. "So sorry Jake," I said kissing him on the cheek. "I have plans with Di. Tomorrow, I promise." I told him, which made him groan really loud, just to make a show out it. I walked to the elavator, and pressed the eight in glowing green and was off to Di's.
