3: Realized feelings

Midnight P.O.V.

Everypony just looked at me, shocked. I didn't know if it meant they were just speechless or if they were concerned. It was awkwardly silent in the room, so I just decided to speak up. "I know it's weird-" And then Rarity cut me off. "Nonsense! That's not weird at all, darling. Maybe you just happen to have a crush on Rainbow." She told me.

A crush? I mean I COULD see it that way, or maybe I DO see it that way. She just seems so... nice and caring. "I think so too," Twilight added. Everypony agreed with them. Come to think of it, she did call me "cute" by accident. Or was it an accident? It probably is, but what if it isn't? UGH! I think I just caught something really dangerous.

Feelings.

Rainbow Dash P.O.V.

"Another emergency?" I asked Soarin. He nodded his head yes. 'Ugh, I knew this was coming.' I thought. "Applejack will deliver the pies to Sugar Cube Corner. You can pick it up there." I told him. For like, the 4th time this week. "Oh yeah! Thanks, but that's the first emergency. There's another one." Soarin told me. I wanted this to be over with, so I agreed to do it.

"Each of the Wonderbolt members needs to bring a Pegasus pony with them next week to the special event we're having. Spitfire said it was important so that they'd think about joining the academy. These days we aren't getting any new members," He told me. I need to bring a pony that can fly? "and the pony you bring should know at least 2 or 3 tricks in flying. Spitfire said that specifically."

Okay scratch that, I need a pony that knows how to do advanced tricks. Man, this is going to be a tough weekend. "Okay Skies, thanks for telling me." And then I flew off again. A lot was going through my mind right now. I don't usually like to think, but right now there's this pony that's been on my mind ever since I saw her. 'Midnight Star' Interesting name, and her cutie mark too.

Her cutie mark was a star surrounded by smaller ones, and they were bright. Her regal purple coat, her dark gray mane, her dusty blue eyes, and her. Just her. But I can't have a crush on her! We're the same gender! It wasn't illegal, it's just weird for me. I've felt this attracted to somepony in such a long time. She just looks so soft and wholesome. Yuck, I sounded SO sappy, but I'll learn to deal with that. Just for her.

Midnight P.O.V.

The ponies and I have been talking for a while now, and now I know so much about them. How Starlight took over an entire village and made everypony give up their special talents, how Twilight went to an alternate universe, how they all ended up getting their cutie marks because of Rainbow Dash... Rainbow Dash. RAINBOW DASH!

They tried comforting me after I agreed with them that I probably have a crush on Rainbow Dash, and we just ended up talking and learning more about each other. Not that I have anything against it, I just got so carried away that I forgot to ask them what I wanted to ask them! And Rainbow Dash will be back any minute now! "You okay, Midnight?" Applejack asked me. "Yeah, you don't look so good," Fluttershy added.

"HOW DO I ASK RAINBOW DASH ON A DATE?" I blurted out quickly. They all looked at each other and nodded their heads. "Don't think about that yet, get to know Rainbow a little more before you ask her out," Twilight told me. "Exactly." Applejack said. "Just flirt a little now and then, maybe compliment her as well, but for now be friends with her darling," Rarity added.

"It'll be fine. Just be nice to Rainbow." Fluttershy said in her normal shy voice, but what caught my eye is that Pinkie looks like she's about to explode. She took a deep breath and then said, "Are you worried because if you try to become best friends with Rainbow Dash that she'll only think of you as a friend and she'll never like you back and when you finally tell her about your feelings she'll reject you and make you guys stay friends and you'll be broken-hearted and cry for a week?"

I was shocked. "How did you know that?" I asked Pinkie Pie. She then replied to me with, "Just a hunch." And then gave me her signature smile.

Rainbow Dash P.O.V.

I made a quick stop to the flower store and bought some roses. I don't know what pushed me to do this, but it did. Now I have to give these flowers to Midnight, but I need to make up a reason WHY I gave them to her! While I was thinking, I saw the ponies heading out of Twilight's castle, but not Midnight. 'Hopefully, she didn't leave earlier.' Is what I'm thinking.

I held the bouquet of roses with my wing and went over to Twilight, who was standing next to the door. "Twi! Did Midnight leave yet?" I asked her, panicking. "No, not yet, why?" She looked at me, confused. "Okay, thanks!" And then I rushed inside her castle. Midnight didn't know the place too well, so she still might be inside the map room.

Fortunately, she was still there. I sighed with relief and then walked in, with the roses being held by my wing. She noticed my presence and smiled at me. 'Aw, cute' Is what I thought. I had to go over to her naturally. Nope, not nervous at all. Heh. *currently shaking*

"Hey Midnight, I got you flowers," I said with confidence. She started blushing a bit and then I gave her the roses. I looked away quickly and started blushing as well. "Thanks, Dashie." She told me with a smile. Wait, did she just call me "Dashie"? No one ever called me Dashie before. I'll admit, the nickname she gave me was pretty adorable.

"What are they for?" She asked me while putting them in her bag. "Oh um.." I definitely wasn't ready for that. "a welcome gift! You know, to welcome you!" I told her and then smiled nervously. I can't believe I'm nervous! She's just a pony, Rainbow. She's just a pony. You see them every day! Why are you scared now??

"Oh okay.." She said kind of disappointed. Why did she have a sad face? Did she not like flowers? Was it something I said? *gasp* WAS IT TOO GAY? Wait, no that can't be it. Whatever it is, it made her sad. I don't want her to be sad! This is all my fault. I shouldn't have given her flowers in the first place!

"Hey, you want to hang out at the park tomorrow?" I asked her. "Sure! She replied to me. She smiled at me and gave me a hug. "See you tomorrow, Dashie." And then with that, she left. My cheeks started burning up. She just hugged me.

SHE hugged ME! "WOO HOO!" I shouted really loud. At that moment I realized that Twilight was staring at me. "Sounds like somepony has a date with their crush." And then Twilight smirked at me. "What? No! It's not a date! And I don't have a crush on her!" I said, embarrassed.

"C'mon Rainbow, it's obvious," Twilight said. "Fine, you got me," I said in a defeated tone, but yeah. I think I do have a crush on Midnight. I just fell for her, really, really hard.
