4: Fly with me

Rainbow Dash P.O.V.

I'm meeting Midnight at the park today. Phew, okay. Don't panic Rainbow, you're just hanging out with her. Should I get her flowers? Should I buy some food? Do I wear something nice? This is hard. Twilight said I had a date with my crush. Sure I'm with my crush, but is it a date? Wait a minute. I got it! I have the perfect plan. She's definitely going to remember this day. *smirk*

Midnight P.O.V.

I'm at the park right now, I'm still waiting for Dash to come. I think I'm a little too early, huh? While I was thinking, somepony interrupted my thoughts. "Hey, Star!" I heard somepony say. "Dash?" I asked, looking around. I couldn't find her, until, "AHHHH!" I screamed. Rainbow was hovering over my head with a worried look on her face.

"STAR! Are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you." Rainbow told me in a comforting voice. I snapped out of my frightened state and looked at Rainbow. "Oh, it's just you Dash." And then I smiled at her. When I did, I noticed that she blushed a bit, and I blushed too. We couldn't look at each other for a while until I broke the ice.

"Why'd you want to hang out at the park?" I asked her. She looked at me and motioned that I should sit beside her. I did, and then she told me. "I wanted to get to know you more." With that, I remembered something important. I was supposed to become really good friends with Dash so she'd accept me! I completely forgot about that.

Out of panic, I replied with, "Really? Me too!" And then I smiled at her awkwardly. We were both sitting together in silence until Rainbow decided to speak up. "Do you like flying?" She asked me. Did she just read me? I always loved flying! That's how I got my cutie mark. "I love flying!" I said excitedly. She smirked at me and said, "Want to fly?" I nodded my head in agreement and we both took off.

One reason I loved flying is that I can let go of all my problems and just soar. Flying takes my mind off of things. Aha! I got it! I'll try to impress Rainbow Dash with my tricks! While I was in my thoughts, Rainbow decided to go faster. 'I can't let her get ahead of me.' I thought. I went faster and caught up to her.

I wanted her to be impressed, so I showed her my tricks. I did a barrel roll around her and still got ahead of her. I looked at her face and she looked shocked. I think she wanted to impress me too since she did one of her tricks. She went over to a cloud and flew around it. When she was done, it looked like me! I got to hand it to her, I was very impressed.

She motioned for us to land, and we did. We both found another place to sit down so we could rest. She looked at me and asked, "What's your cutie mark about?" I don't tell a lot of people this story, but I'll say it for her. I took a deep breath and smiled at her.

"I like flying, but I like flying during the night more. I was born special since my wings glow at my own will. I was born at midnight and when I came out, my wings were glowing. I got my name 'Midnight Star', because of it. My cutie mark relates to that too. I fly at night, and since it's dark, I make my wings glow. So I'm literally a midnight star."

Rainbow looked at me and smiled. "That's awesome!" She told me. For the rest of the day, we just hung out and ate some food. We shared stories and jokes, and I couldn't ask for more. At the end of the day, Dash offered to walk me home. I gladly accepted it. We just kept talking and laughing, I didn't want the day to end.

But out of nowhere, "Remember the special event I told you about? Where I have to bring somepony?" She asked me. I nodded my head 'yes'. "Would you like to come with me?" She asked while stopping in her tracks. I blushed and nodded my head a 'yes' very slowly in agreement.

I was looking down, but a hoof made my head go back up. Rainbow's face was so close to mine I could feel her breathing. She got closer to my face and kissed me cheek. She then hugged me afterward. I was a blushing mess. She stopped hugging me and told me we got to my house already. Today ended too quickly for my liking.

She walked me to my door and when I entered, without closing the door yet, Rainbow looked at me and gave me her signature smile. I blushed even more. "Thanks for today, Dashie," I told her and hugged her once again. I saw blushing and I couldn't help but let out a little giggle.

She stared at me for a while, and then said: "Count this as our first date, Star." And then she winked at me. Dash flew off to get back to her own home, and I was just left there stunned. 'I will never forget this day, Dash.' I thought to myself. I smiled at the sky and closed the door. I slid down the door, and now I can't stop thinking about her.

I love her. I love Rainbow Dash...
