"Look, I'm not going on the run today, got it?"

You heard a familiar voice as you peeked your head around the corner from the hallway into the kitchen. Your father stood at the counter as he continued bickering with Patrick and Sophia.

"I don't care how far away it is, my kid hasn't seen me in a week! I'm not risking going out, I'm staying here today and that's final, understand?" Your father growled angrily as he slammed his hands against the countertop.

You approached him cautiously and tugged on his pants, immediately catching his attention. He glanced down at you for a moment before handing Patrick his pistol and motioning them off.

"Is daddy staying home today?" You asked quietly.

You were only four, so you were still quite small compared to your father, even though his stature was that of a shorter person. Your father, Carl, smiled gently before kneeling down to your level.

"Yes I am, (F/N)." He said softly.

This was unexpected at first, mainly because you thought that he would still be mad after the confrontation, so you grinned happily and hugged your father tightly around the neck.

"Yay~!" You squealed happily. "Were going to have so much fun today, daddy!"

After a moment, Carl picked you up and held you tightly in his arms for a brief minute.

"So what do you want to do first, (F/N)?" He asked.

You thought for a moment as you looked at your father.

"Can we play with mommy?" You asked cautiously. "I haven't seen her in a really long time."

"I'm afraid not, sweetie." He told you as he brushed a few strands of hair off your forehead.

"Why, daddy?" You asked on the verge of tears. "Doesn't she want to play with me?"

"Mommy would love to play with you dear, but..." Carl's voice trailed off as he stifled to mention why you were unable to play with your mother.

Shortly after you had been born, your groups campsite had been attacked by a herd of walkers. Your father had watched in horror as his wife and mother of his only child, was torn apart in front of his eyes. He wanted desperately to save her, but deep down he knew that she wasn't going to make it out alive. He snatched the small bundle that contained his newborn baby girl up off of the ground and ran, clutching you tightly to his chest. Although you were merely an infant at the time of the incident, the vague memories would often cause you have nightmares, even though you were unaware that the bloodied woman lying on the ground was in fact, your missing mother. When you first told Carl about the woman in your dreams, his eyes began to water and he embraced you tightly, softly stroking your hair and telling you that everything was alright and that there was nothing to be afraid of, although there was. Carl always tried his best to shield you from the world outside the small log cabin, but visions of that horrible day still reached you. He had assured you numerous times that your mom was still around and she'd play with you when she had time, but he was only trying to prevent you from finding out the truth.

Carl's eyes began to appear glossy as you noticed and hugged him around the neck again.

"Don't cry, daddy! I can still play with you!" you reassured him. "I'm glad you stayed home so we can play today!"

Carl set you down and gently patted you on the head. "So what do you want to play first, (F/N)?" He asked once again, hoping that you'd changed your answer after what he had said.

You looked around a bit before seeing your Nintendo Wii under the TV in the cramped living room. You softly tugged on Carl's sleeve and lead him into the small room. He watched as you turned it on and tossed him a controller.
