She doesn't talk much and you think that it's maybe because she's shy, maybe she doesn't talk a lot because people have told her that she's annoying. You get that vibe from her, that before she came here she was put through a lot.

The first thing you noticed about your new roommate was the fact that her eyes were hollow, not in a literal sense but in a metaphorical sense. She doesn't smile at you while she gets settled into the room, nor did she make much eye contact, but when she did that is what you saw. A hollow, barely holding on scared little girl.

The first time she talked she asked for a pencil, it was a simple request and something you could fulfil, she was finishing the art assignment that had been set by one of the her teachers. As you got up from your bed on the right hand side of the room you glanced at the picture she was drawing, a lone female silhouette kneeling down beside a grave, rain falling around her.

You wonder if this in anyway had something to do with her own experiences.

She walked in the next day with a small smile on her face, it was strange to say the least – a girl you hardly know and have hardly said anything too in the three weeks you've been roommates and you've never seen her once smile at anything or anyone – and now here she was doing that thing. Her face is visibly softer, the smile fitting on her so perfectly like she used to do that a lot a long time ago, her eyes light up a little bit and you decide in that moment that this is how you want her to always look.

A/N: I don't actually know what this is, but I found it in my folder and am deciding to publish it. I'll probably get around to writing a couple of chapters for it at a later date. Trigger warnings; abuse, sadness, probably some form of self harm. (Because I can't write happy stories and I use fanfiction as an escape... wwhhheee!)
